Australian pilots can work for US regionals.
USA's Qantas
In case anyone is interested in the contract that is laid out before Delta pilots to vote on, here are some of the details. Australian pilots, you have some seriously heavy lifting ahead of you to get your careers pointing back towards where they should be. But I believe we are all worth it. On the US front though, if this Delta contract gets ratified, it should kick off contracts for all the remaining majors. Time will tell...

A recent ad from Silver Airways for E3 ATR pilots.
This isn't particularly helpful though; how many Aussies do they think are running around with an FAA CPL/MEL/IR who have not gone to a better regional ? Maybe worth asking them if it's hard and fast:
"FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Multi-engine Land, Instrument Ratings"

Bafanguy, it looks like Silver's woes are only going to get worse. Spirit just announced an aip for some new pay rates. It still looks like garbage when you're in training, but not too bad once on the line. No idea if the spirit guys will vote it up or not. Point being, why go to silver when you could just go straight to a major.
Below are Spirit's proposed rates..

Well, that first year basic captain pay rate is more $AUD than my top tier pay at Qantas. And with a lower cost of living and tax too. And it takes about 25 years to get to that here. If I was much younger…

I would think so which is why I'm surprised they list FAA tickets as a requirement for the E3s they're trying to attract. But, airline management moves in mysterious ways.

I moved to the states to fly this year and wish I did it 10 years ago. In America they actually treat pilots with respect and have such a great view towards flying and aviation in general.
DYS,
It appears Frontier is targeting E3s who are already in the USA ? Is that your understanding ? Their posted requirements for E3s lists an ATP among them:
"Currently hold an ATP Certificate"

I think they're also having massive retention issues, hence the 3 year signing bonus. Doesn't help that Spirit have a TA to consider, and JetBlue just announced they've reached a TA this morning too. Odds are to me they'll have to come to the party and raise their rates sooner rather than later.
I'm not sure if they're at the point yet of doing atpctp courses for folks, or even just the ATP checkride if someone does the atpctp course themselves. I can't imagine they're far away from doing these though given the amount of zero to hero programs they are setting up lately.

New JetBlue TA

The general consensus is you can reasonably expect 1000 x hourly rate per year (credit roughly 83 hours/month). So take their maxed out captain for example, they're looking at USD$340k per year at the end of this agreement. Common sense is always to budget on minimum guarantee obviously, and there can also be large swings in take home pay based on differences like state income tax, health insurance options etc.
Also, consider if you started at JetBlue today. Second year FO would be $160k, and third year $190k. Not bad for a narrowbody FO job that would be the equivalent of flying for Jetstar or Virgin.

While the JB TA rates are interesting, I'm not sure how much good that info does for E3s since to my knowledge JB hasn't taken any E3s.
Several contracts are under negotiation here but a limited number of them affect E3s.

I think it's also healthy that these new rates etc get posted here. As a 1:1 comparison for equivalent jobs at home, it shows what an Australian based career should yield, and how successful the Joyce whipsaw has been over the last 14 years at destroying the Australian pilot career. The fact that the Q subsidiaries are played off against each other for concessions all while eating pay freezes is an absolute joke. Not to mention that QF proper failed to secure any form of real scope protections, and have had their flying whittled down to what it is today by said subsidiaries that sprang up on their watch.
In their defence though, the regional model in the US is only now starting to collapse, and with scope protections negotiated they will be difficult to bring back when the pendulum inevitably swings back in management's favour. Hopefully folks at home can learn from their US counterparts and put a stop to Joyce's whipsaw.
Fair point, but both Spirit and Frontier take E3s, and will need to compete with JetBlue one way or another. Even though Frontier is still a ways out from their contract becoming amenable, I hear the pilot group is getting upset about a lack of movement on pay rates.

You make interesting points. US carriers competing for Aussies ? Who would've seen that coming.
Whether the US regionals are in jeopardy remains to be seen. Lots of opinion on that.
I don't know about US pay rates influencing pay rates in Australia.

Interesting. I didn't know Omni and Amerijet were taking E3s.
And did your contacts from RWA say what made them decide returning to Australia was the thing to do ?
