Seems they still can't find crew, given another add on the AFAP jobs page this week.

Are they even considering non-type rated yet experienced crew?

Its the only way I can think of, of them not being able to find crew. That or the conditions are truly horrendous.

The duck has burst unfortunately.

Credibility has gone sub zero, prospective passengers will be more than wary and Corporate support will be flat line as well.

There is not enough money in the world to make FSA enticing to the low yield market they aimed at.

Quel domage.

In high load and fare times it is always handy to have a fallback, but one that operates.

Best all

From Today's Advocate

Airline expects to soar in July after stalling | The Advocate

GROUNDED Burnie - Melbourne carrier Free Spirit Airlines expects to resume flights in July, managing director Roman Badov says.
Free Spirit stopped its flights several weeks ago, blaming another unnamed airline for allegedly "poaching" its crew.
That sparked a bitter spat between the airline and bigger competitor Regional Express (Rex), which accused Free Spirit of making "scurrilous comments which tarnish our reputation" .Rex also said Free Spirit had averaged only about 2.25 passengers a flight in May and had cancelled about half its flights.
Free Spirit described the figures as "fabrication".
Mr Badov said Free Spirit would recommence operations in July.
Re-launch events were expected.
Free Spirit started its 19-seat Burnie to Melbourne flights in late April.
It recently delayed starting flights between Melbourne and Merimbula, in New South Wales, again citing "poaching" of crew.
In April, Mr Badov said he expected Free Spirit to become profitable within about six months

Every week they update their advert for pilots on the AFAP site and extend the closing date for applications. Always with award rates and an 'immediate start'. Their latest ad offers relocation and accommodation, so on the surface it seems attractive enough. One would imagine that they have a long list of applicants already.
Maybe they are setting the stage to sponsor someone under a 457 visa?
If none of the applicants have a B1900 rating, surely it would be cheaper and quicker to simply type rate someone living nearby. Anyone who has flown a King Air would have to be a suitable candidate.
Or, as has been suggested elsewhere, the conditions and security on offer simply don't cut it.

The scary thing is that the Travel Compensation Fund is no more.

There is no safety net if you use eftpos or BPay - if they offer such options and the relaunch isn't due to deep pockets but to run off held funds for as long as possible. I hope the latter is not the case.

TCF copped a lot of cost when AN was shut down from those who paid cash. With a credit card you can at least have the charge reversed. Now there is no one there to pick up the pieces.

With the dead time in between stopping and starting there are a lot of costs such as leases and premises that won't go away.

I hope the pockets are indeed very deep.

So does anybody know if the fat lady has cleared her throat yet? I see that EMK hasn't flown since 24/5. Can't be a sustainable way to generate sales
