Or times are desperate in the leasing business perhaps?
Or perhaps the leasing co. don't expect it to last but are happy for the short term income.

That particular aircraft sat in Broome (I think) for ages after Vinnies went tits up. Might be something in what you suggest Clarrie.

So I'm led to believe that a new crew has started, and they have come from REX..

How can an "airline" have one crew?

What happens when one pilot goes sick - everyone's flight gets cancelled?

I highly doubt that.

Unless you are confusing the fact that Roman and two of his partners are disgruntled ex-rex pilots?

This is the main reason they are targeting Rex routes and not more logical/viable options.

yeh seems like crazy to take on rex when plenty of viable routes with no services at all.

What about Essendon to Bankstown ?

No security required at either end. Plenty of people don't want to go anywhere near Sydney CBD or eastern suburbs/northern beaches, but rather want to go west.

What about Essendon to Bankstown ?
Because no one wants to sit in a noisy turbo prop for near two hours

actually same schedule timing at MEL/SYD in a turboprop, but could use various jets under 20 tonnes

or do closed charters with jets over 20 tonnes.

Plenty of this type of operation in the USA right now.

no it's right on topic. Think the only think you're scared of, is if the big boys lose a little business to the new breed of airlines flying form 2ndary airports in smaller aircraft, pilots will lose jobs flying bigger aircraft 7 be offered instead jobs flying smaller aircraft, for less pay.

If FSA had picked a route that no one else flies like Bankstown/Essendon or Bankstown/Morabbin, they would surely succeed.

Why ?

1) no direct opposition. The big boys don't want to leave SYD & MEL to any extent. Badgerys Ck .when finished in 10-20 years time, will be very interesting. Think maybe TT & JQ will fly there 1st.

2) people are really sick of BUA's(big ugly airports). If you want to go shopping, go to a mall.

3) people are really sick of b/s security. Just like proven with TSA in USA, it's totally useless & very time consuming

4) plenty of people don't want or need parking hassles at MEL & SYD

5) plenty of people don't want to go to eastern Sydney; plenty of businesses west of SYD

6) plenty of businesses around Morabbin

maybe FSA should have gone down the path of

What new breed of airlines flying between secondary airports?? Like Free Spirit? I bet the majors are shaking in their boots at the oncoming Free Spirit juggernaut!

Here's somewhere you might feel a bit more at home BNEA320.

these guys who are well funded are just the start & will take some high paying business customers from the big boys. Without high yielding customers, profits will fall & unemployment will be just around the corner for some.

Quick. Someone needs to warn Alan & John to get out and shut up shop, before they lose everything!

What relevance does some small start up airlines in the US that you've managed to find on Google have to Free Spirit, let alone aviation in Australia?

You seem to have a habit of hijacking posts to push whatever agenda it is you have.

Pretty typical. Always finding ways for other people to spend THEIR money. Never his money.

BNEA,

You constantly go on and on about Big Airports.

Maybe people are happy to put up with horribly big airports and all the horrible facilities and conveniences that go with them, even for a regional flight, so they can actually travel on an aircraft that has:

1) a toilet
2) a flight attendant (probably handy in a emerg. situation)
2a) cabin service
3) reduced mobility passenger assistance
4) one of the best OTPs in the country

Perhaps another company could make some of those other routes you mention work. But FSA has no crew, one leased aircraft, unknown capital and over 50% cancellation rate when operating. Plus most of you are still missing the point on FSA:

Their directors want to annoy Rex. Therefore they are not looking for routes that Rex do not service.

we didn't suggest FSA should have chosen a Beech 1900.

Saab 340's have all of below, so do plenty of small jets.

you don't need to go to a BUA to find these. What are you thinking ?

BNEA,

This post is about FSA operating Burnie, not an imaginary new startup airline.

My comparison was thread relevant B1900 vs SF340
