Sydney Airport

When told to hold short Sierra, and you turn the corner, there is no need to report "Sydney tower virgin 344, holding short Sierra, ready" just report ready.

When talking to director, they do not require your heading. If you are on a heading of 330 and maintaining 6000, just say "director, Rex 1134, 6000, 16R in sight."

And tower guys, why do we need a clearance to cross an inactive runway? Think of the reduction on calls, the saving of fuel, the reduction in brake wear if we could just be cleared all the way to 16L / 34R. You guys seem to be able to do it when we exit the runway to the bay, but not the other way around, and it's up hill. The airlines are on our back day in day out for efficiencies, it's time everyone else pitches in where they can!

Cue the recent increase in ATR/Dash single engine taxi sightings... Do you guys tell your passengers you are doing it?

Heading info

You certainly had to report your heading to Director at one point in time.
Are you sure that the requirement no longer stands?

Isn't a proviso of reporting ready to be in the vicinity of the holding point? Is Sierra in the vicinity?

See Jepp ATC Communications AU-926 7.7 Frequency Management

"Transfer of Control AND/OR Frequency Change"
- a pilot contacting next frequency when on a heading .....Phraseology pilot transmission ....HEADING (as previously assigned)

It does not state that the requirement is valid in all cases except when contacting Director.

Admittedly murky, but a few examples of calls in AIP state "Maintaining 6000".
