One would have to consider Qantas replacing some of the older A330 aircraft with the NEO product in the medium to long term.
From what I’ve heard, Qantas are after more A330-300s for the international market and may be looking for ‘cheap’ aircraft on offer from now defunct airline Skymark.

I agree with you Lancer, the A320 is nothing new for Qantas and people need to realise that the red tail is not the one and only for the Qantas Group

They can dual Aerobridge board to keep turns quicker L1 & L2.
The L2 door is an emergency only exit on the current 321 and is optioned to be deactivated on the NEO.

Press release*| Airbus, a leading aircraft manufacturer

The first new option consists of an additional over-wing exit door which raises the current maximum exit limit so operators can make even more use of the available cabin floor space. When this new option is combined with the Space-Flex aft cabin configuration, the A321neo can accommodate up to 236 seats, 16 seats more than today’s maximum seating, which leads to a reduction in seat mile costs of five percent.

In conjunction with the additional over-wing exit door, a second new option is available whereby the forward exit is de-activated. This creates a seamless, undivided forward cabin allowing additional seats and even more flexibility in multi-class seat arrangements. This option will be of particular use in longer range markets where high comfort standards are needed in Premium class.

Airlines make a profit charging the unfortunate $30K for a course
Qantas mainline pilots have never paid for their jobs/endorsements, so your premise is defunct. Even if mainline re-start recruiting, paying for your job/endorsement will not happen.

Qantas Fleet Order Speculation

QF guys nearing the end of their mou at JQ are being told that staying may not be and option. That's from an MFO directly. The fact that contract doesn't give JQ that option is another thing, but hey, that's how it rolls at the star

Does anyone know if AIPA and QF reached a deal by yesterday's deadline?

Re: LWOP

I noticed a little while back that the "LWOP Opportunities" banner had disappeared from the home page of QF Flight Crew. Can't find any mention of it anywhere on the site now.

Always thought it was a bit ridiculous that it was there in the first place - helping people find jobs elsewhere rather than fixing the real problem!

How much is a VA or JQ second officer on? I'm hearing the new SO rate isn't very impressive.

I understand that L2 is a smaller door, however it doesn't stop Lufthansa utilising dual aerobridges on A321.

Jetconnect on the other hand!!!
There is a requirement for successful candidates to contribute 50% of the Type Rating cost (approx AUD 16,000). However, if you successfully complete the Type Rating Course and the Jetconnect First Officer Training, Jetconnect will refund you this amount paid by you, in full, after you get checked-to-line.

It seems they do pay you back.

I was under the impression it was the R2 door being removed on the A321?

Thumbs up

The number I've heard thrown around for a QF new hire 787/A350 S/O is still higher than what a friend at VOZ is on after a few years. I don't know what the JQ S/O number is.

I doubt it will be less than 50% more than the JQ SO rate.
