Flyboat, perhaps you need to go and see an optometrist or an English tutor as once again you have failed to read or understand the title of the thread. You have come out with your usual, grossly inaccurate, pitifully envious and painfully repetitive rant about how much Qantas pilots earn.

Even when you try to stick to the point you miss it.
The issue about a low hour pilot flying an aircraft Vs a pilot who has been a S/O for a couple years is how well they fly on day one, not in 2 years.
Yes, after 2 years, the bloke who's been an F/O for 2 years will have better experience than the S/O. But what about during those 2 years???

A pilot who has been able to learn through watching as an S/O and has seen a lot of the traps and knows how to avoid them will be a better pilot on day 1 as an F/O. It is fairly obvious but as you have never been a professional pilot it is not surprising that you fail to understand.
Well the people who think SO exp is such a wonderful learning opportunity really only have that experience to reflect on , they never went direct to the RHS.
Hahahahah, such knowledge from someone who never went to either seat from either pathway! You have no experience to "reflect on" at all!!!

Ultimately FBN who cares what a Qantas SO gets paid. They get paid what the contract says they should get paid! Good on them, make hay while the sun shines, don't be jealous of others who have the benefit of good industrial agreements that have been hard won over many many years.

Would that cost model work for Jetstar...... NO, will the Jetstar SO rank get paid anywhere near the same..... NO, will plenty of people be willing to take a Jetstar SO position regardless of the pay ...... YES. I think most if not all Jetstar cadets in the future will enter the airline via two streams, either as a 787 SO or a DASH 8 FO in New Zealand. That is just what I am hearing, either way if you are going to have cadet pilots then both of these options are probably a sensible use of the cadet pilot for a couple of years.

Don't be too hard on FlyBoatNorth.......

This guy kinda amuses me.

If I log on to see what is happening in the world of pprune....and I see a post by FlyBoatNorth, it does bring a smile to my face.

Because I know that the next few minutes will be pure entertainment as I read his ridiculous posts and then watch other drivers (who are actually in the know) burn him down in flames.

FlyBoatNorth.....my crew have all disappeared, my hotel is in the middle of nowhere and there are very very few English channels on the telly.
Thank you for entertaining me for the last 5mins.......I owe you buddy

Eternity.

Me too. He's so entertaining . I'd really love to know what makes this guy tick. Is he a normal person in real life and just a misguided troll on this forum. Does he believe his own rubbish?

Is he even a "he"?!

I think FBN is a qantas Angel working in the social media department.

Judging by the sentence structure, I'd say an early 90s birthdate and a definite case of 'FOMO', if he's not on here catching up on the discussions from the grown ups.

Are the cadet courses still running or is there just a big back log of candidates waiting for their shiny jet job? Seen the email as well. Looks like many cadets to come.

So these guys , many of whom joined straight from year 12 are now in quite a few cases WB FOs at Jetstar , two type ratings , any flown both Airbuses and the Boeing yet ? Earning six figures

Rest of the guys/girls who graduated & had good attitudes shortly to get a start

Wonder where the GA legends who commenced training 2010 to 2014 are now ? Probably at best flying casually employment in some absolute sh*thole in the Aussie outback

I hate to tell you this boys & girls - but it is kinda looking like I could just be well as they say dead right on this one

You don't need much bait to lure out FBN these days!

Flying a turboprop above 5,700Kg full time in a capital city and getting paid well (no, I'm no cadet). What about you FBN, been racking up plenty of flight sim time?

Once again FBN out there, trying to prop himself up by denigrating those that have succeeded in the profession he failed in.

Pathetic creature.

The haters will always hate. He probably hasn't upgraded to the latest MS flight simulator or his "joystick" has fallen out of his hands...

Hey guys,

What's the latest news with JQ recruiting? Will there be any SO spots or are there still cadets around? Interesting now they've received all 11 787's and flights commencing next week to China requiring a third pilot.

Cheers, C&G

24 of the 50 odd cadets waiting to start will eventually get trained up to be 787 SO.

Can't remember the exact figures but in the next few months 6 cadets for 787 SO, 6 for A320 FO in Australia and 6 for A320 FO in Auckland

Is there any hope of hiring external turboprop captains into the NZ or Australian A320 operation who hold an ATPL and aren't cadets

Patience my young padawan

Not in the short term, but within 12 months Qantas will be recruiting again.

Hopefully it will be back to the days of 8 new guys starting every month.

Lots of reasons for it. Keeping a 747 a bit longer than originally planned, new ICAO rules meaning over 65s can't fly to many of our international destinations. 787s not too far away.

The last 7 years have been tough for the whole industry with Qantas not taking anyone. It's about to change.

That applies to Captains now! When you say new, do you mean it will apply to other crew members as well?
