It's not really an turn over as allot of them are new positions, allot of growth within in the next 3 years at NZ.

They're not doing all their hiring for the next three years now.

Yes, without a doubt some of the positions this year are due to the expansion you outline but turnover is a lot higher than it has ever been historically. One the other day said she was the only one left off her course from two years ago. Others had all left (some voluntarily, some under direction).

The company is well aware of this and seems happy enough (it's what they wanted). Get them in on reduced terms and conditions to what has previously been on offer. Have them do the job for a while then off they go to do other things. Don't blot your copybook and these guys/gals are making ISM (the lead FA) after 12 months.

Actually the ATR Fleet will grow to 24 frames, so more FAs needed for the Mount Cook division.

2 new ATRs by years end, and all 7 on order delivered by end of July 2016.

A lot of the flight attendants only do around 1 year of service.

Don't think management is to worried, the A320 training is only 21 days! Keeps that pay rates down if they only stick around for an year. None of the union problems like at QF.

Who really cares if they are hiring fa's or not.

When will they start hiring pilots is the real question!

I too had heard about Eagle being understaffed etc. Contacted HR a couple of days ago to be told that a start date is about 12 months away. Until I'm actually sitting in that seat I won't believe anything, rumours or fact.

Jet Pilots for Eagle ??

How can - remember Jet Pilots are NOT suitable to fly Turbo Props -- all different etc etc set of skills al la etc etc. AND jet pilots have an attitude problem - sorry 'issue'. I wonder if the external jet pilots will have the 'night landing restriction' ??

Maybe that means they didn't find enough people in the current hold pool that could leave their current jobs in a hurry to get Eagle through until closure?

Here is the advert. Sounds like candidates will end up on either Q300 or ATR72, nothing mentioned of Eagle.

So taking external recruits from the hold pool straight into the links without a re interview when 120 eagle guys and girls had to reinterview? You've got to be kidding me. At the very least these blokes and bloketts should be doing a condensed reinterview like the bunch at eagle.

Long story short..... There will not be enough Eagle pilots to cover the requirement for pilots at NSN/Cook. Hence the reason to externally hire.
Especially if you take into account that Eagle require people to stay behind for the operation to continue. These people will have a Jet/Cook/Nelson seniority number to protect their position, but remain at Eagle on secondment.

I believe at all regional yes letters have been offered at Eagle start ( starting very shortly ) and that Eagle will also look to take 10 graduates from the AirNZ Airline Integration Course.

That would be the first time to happen, right? Wonder how many graduates are there who have successfully completed that course.

"I believe at all regional yes letters have been offered at Eagle start ( starting very shortly ) and that Eagle will also look to take 10 graduates from the AirNZ Airline Integration Course."

Scon, I'm sorry but I can't believe Air NZ management would cause an uproar by allowing these pilots on yes letters to start without a reinterview. What does that say to the Eagle guys (all of whom have been in the company for at least a year) who have had to reinterview to save their jobs? It says they aren't valued.

I expect at the very least these externals to have to do a condensed interview.

I doubt guys will have to take LWOP. Mt Coom are screaming for pilots as well as Air Nelson (shortly) and the Jet fleet.

I didn't mention anything about them not having to re interview? But I guess I didn't clarify either. I think they do have to go through a re assessment process ( the start would be dependant on them being successful i guess ), but the option of current yes letters going to Eagle has been offered to them I believe .
