Sad day indeed but at least simon has done right by the staff rather than letting things go on

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

It's been smouldering away for a couple of years now. Hardly surprising.

Just like macair before it, or a myriad of others.

Ultimately the regionals will become another front for the two players exclusively. It's how capitalism works in this country.

I wonder who will buy Rex first.

Capt. Claret. Certainly mate! Here are the oz lotto numbers!

36 24 38 2 6 20 21

They all represent ladies I have known. On the sadder side, Skytrans crew are out of jobs. Will Rex come in, or will the new QantaslinkStar (with all Q400s and half the personnel, and diminished working conditions) make any competitor's task impossible?

I know that it is possible for another party to make headway in FNQ, BUT you need the right aircraft and maintenance. Transtate airlines made $6,000,000 a year doing the gulf and Cape York, but never upgraded their fleet until they merged with a loss-making charter firm - and the upgrade was Metros! The San-Antone Sewer Pipe! In the tropics!!!!

My bet is on West-Wing (and I have had nothing to do with them), but if they can responsibly expand their B1900 fleet, and utilise good training (like in Witchita), they could cash-in. IMHO Rex would be a distaster for all concerned.

By the way, when I quote the "word on the street", I have knowledge - I know this is supposed to be a "rumour" network, but dis-information is as bad as mis-information. Pilots are not in the bullsh!t business.

And Cp Claret - when are we going to have the red wine frenzy? You're only up the hill from me, and you have my number. Anyhow, Cheers all! All the best for 2015, but I know to all you Skytrans staff that's like saying "Happy hysterectomy!!!!"

Yep. They might have made that. Profit would have been minimal (if any) though

So you're saying that West Wing has expanded irresponsibly in the past and that their training isn't good? All this and
(and I have had nothing to do with them)
.

Empty vessels Ned.

Defenestrator,

I humbly submit that Ned was sounding caution over hypothetical future moves by WW, and the need for attention on training, rather than criticising anything in their past.

I have only been watching WW from afar but I am not sure you could accuse them of making a lot of overly rash decisions. They seem very "steady as she goes"

I'm blowed if I can see how one can interpret Ned's comments as implying criticism, or levelling accusations of irresponsiblility in the past?

Ned, were you a founding member of FUFO at a Majestic organisation in the early 90's?

No longer up the hill, basking in 30+ degrees on Carlton Beach in Taswegia now.

Cheers,
Clarrie

I do not believe the decision was made on the 2nd, there is way to much stuff all ready prepared, staff paid etc.

But, congrats for honoring bills etc Mr Wild and going out with dignity looking after staff and refunding customers.

Last night Chairman of Rex Aviation, Mr Lim, talked with Simon Wild and passed on his best regards to Skytrans. “It was an honour to have someone of his calibre contact us. It is times like this we need to work with our industry colleagues. Rex Aviation is happy to help where they can. This is sincerely appreciated.” said Simon Wild. Managing Direction, Skytrans.

IS Mr Lim looking for local experience with these markets ?

Answer to all

FUFO lives! Tassie is too far away, je regrette.

Transtate profited $6mil per year - bone head. But thanks for your useless contribution. And what would you freaking know any way?

I meant no criticism to West Wing, I'm just observing that, of all the players in the field, they could maximise the opportunities here.

The last point I'll make is about the pursuit of excellence. Use the best available everthing. Whether it's crew, aeroplanes, and training, and especially management, if you are the best - then you will win.

Sorry that I told the truth, I guess you can't handle the truth.

Typical Australian attitude - I want someone to do it for me.
