Where have all the QF codeshares gone?
Interesting doing quotes and bookings this week and looking to send clients MEL CDG on QF by request.
This was September departure and the Sabre system delivered possibilities over LHR with no reference to via DXB with codeshare direct in. I did go 3 more levels in and no QF. Then I tried a DXB CDG QF availability and same result. remembering this is a direct link to the QF system there appears to be something to do with past best buy herrings and Denmark here.
Doing due diligence on this I checked numerous European destinations with QF having previously shared codeshare agreements with EK and no QF flight numbers showing in their own availability except ZRH - maybe someone for got they had a codeshare there.
Gooing a level deeper using an entry only an old fart on IPARS systems would know I pulled a direct QF availability on a codeshare I have live for a client that is now invisible on normal availability and the inventory with available seats shows with full link availability and is saleable if you do a longhand sell which is something that would never occur to the palaces of plastic Captains and others.
The inhibition of these displays indicates a major change of something within the QF/EK agreement and maybe the Rat is more damaged than thought and EK is distancing.
Does anyone have any info why this may have occurred? Just a very strange thing to happen with no Industry update and a little disconcerting.

Hopefully just a computer glitch but a serious question, considering Alan's penchant for the dramatic announcement, if a decision has now been
made that when the financial results are announced in August ( probably a loss exceeding a billion), International will be
shut down, would it be illegal to sell code share tickets now for any dates after the shut down ?

The codeshares are now coming up on a through availability but on the 3rd page of availability. This is only on a Europe to Australia through flight and the immediate default is BA connection over LHR onto QF.
The codeshares are however NOT coming up at all on FCO DXB, MAN DXB, NCE DXB etc, etc. Therefore the QF codeshare cannot be sold without sourcing the flight number on a schedule display or a longhaul availability.
Something is not right here. Not many would know how to do this in this day of pull down boxes and click this/that etc. Nobody is trained anymore.
The QF/AA codeshares into the States are all perfectly visible including those for stopover traffic. Why then has the display status changed on the QF/EK routes?
A price comparison transaction will simply not pick up QF at all and offer them as an alternative if they are cheaper.
Seems like there is either a cunning plan afoot or somebody has screwed the puppy with system protocols.
Either way, this seems like just another way that the Rat is leaking potential revenue.

Is this an attempt to get more people on QF1/2 and QF9/10 perhaps, which means connecting over London across Europe? Searches for flights to many European destinations on website show QF flight + BA as an option as well as QF/EK. QF also put this out recently encouraging people to stay on QF all the way to London rather than switching to Emirates plane in Dubai.

Together with Emirates, we continually review our codeshare services across the joint network.
To help consolidate passengers using a combination of Qantas and Emirates services between Sydney / Melbourne and London Heathrow, Qantas will adjust its distribution system. This will see Qantas passengers travelling on Qantas operated services to or from Dubai (QF1/2/9/10) without a stopover, remain on the same Qantas aircraft, rather than changing aircraft in Dubai.
This change will appear in selling systems progressively for new bookings from 14 April 2014.
Customers with existing bookings to London Heathrow are not impacted by this change.
Offer for customers to change existing bookings
Customers who hold a booking from Sydney/Melbourne to London Heathrow with a Qantas marketed flight number (operated by Emirates) have the option to change their existing booking to travel on a Qantas operated service to London Heathrow, where it may better suit their travel plans. This would mean they would travel on the same Qantas A380 aircraft with the same flight number for all sectors of their journey between Sydney/Melbourne, Dubai and London.
On this occasion, there would be no additional cost to make this change, provided that the original travel dates are retained.
This offer is subject to availability on Qantas operated services between Sydney/Melbourne and London Heathrow and is open for all Qantas customers booked and ticketed prior to 14 April 2014, for travel on/after 14 April 2014.
Qantas Frequent Flyer members who choose to take up this offer and change their ticket to fly on a Qantas operated service to/from London Heathrow, in this instance, will earn the same number of Qantas Points and Status Credits for that flight.
Chauffeur Drive bookings will need to be cancelled and re-booked via Manage Your Booking on qantas.com.
For Ticket Reissues:
All flight changes for Qantas codeshare flights operated by Emirates outlined in this policy need to be re-issued prior to travel, regardless of which airline the ticket is validated to. Revalidation is not permitted.
The agent can reissue the ticket in-house if validated to Qantas (081)
Ticket to be reissued with no additional collection or refund.
Additional fare, ticket taxes and change fees associated to the ticket do not apply
All details of the original ticket to be shown on the new ticket including fare basis and fare calculation
Authority number '567004' must be entered into the tour code box
For Nett, APOSD and Private fares tickets, move the existing data from the tour code box to the endorsement box
Net remit tickets will not require the NR indicator.
For tickets validated to another carrier, please contact the Qantas Industry Centre for ticketing.
