Maybe someone should tell AJ just how bad things are money wise, just had an item on our TV news, Qantas are spending what was described as a fortune on their first class lounge in LA.
I would be astonished if he wasn't a dead man walking at this stage. The board will be trying to extricate itself from the Joycean disaster with their own individual credibility intact. I imagine a quiet but intense CEO hunt is on right now.

Jetstar Japan beats competitors over holiday period
On 6 January our Jetstar Japan team announced their passenger number for the period 20 December to 5 January. Out of 13 airlines in Japan, our airline came fourth in terms of available seats and number of passengers. Most pleasingly, Jetstar Japan’s load factor was number one among all the airlines at 88.3 per cent. Congratulations to our team in Japan

wonder what the load factor would have been if a third of the fleet wasnt against the fence?
I am guessing all Airlines would do the same, but their figures are obviously the number of pax carried to the number of seats available on those flights, IF they were being honest
they should include ALL available seats, that is including the seats on the idle/stored aircraft.

Actually those numbers are skewed poorly.. 20Dec - 5 Jan will of course show only the busiest time. I wonder how they stacked up for the calendar month of Dec? Not as good I'm guessing....

Jetstar Japan 17
It's credible that Jetstar Japan carried more passengers than J Air as they only operate a fleet of smaller regional jets.
I find it hard to believe JQ carried more pax then either Air Japan or Skymark considering some of their 17 aircraft are operational spares.

To be fair it does say............
They did not say they carried the most pax, or even 2nd or 3rd most pax.
our airline came fourth in terms of available seats and number of passengers.

J-Air is fully owned by JAL, and could be considered like Qantas Link,

Alan Joyce's plan for turning around Qantas Group. Draft 1.
8 Pillar Plan (8 is a lucky number in Asia)
Qantas will retire all long haul aircraft, to be replaced by Jetstar's 8 oldest A320s. (this will bring down the average fleet age)
All Qantas A320s to be based in Darwin and be flown as far afield as Dili and Kupang. (to be known as QF1 and QF2) Code share with Air North and Emirates.
Qantas A320's will be fitted with 8 luxury First suites. (Red Q is not dead)
Jetstar Asia will then transport all passengers to destinations throughout our pan Asian network. (New destinations include Ulaanbaatar and Zamboanga)
An total order of 888 A320's will operate our network with at least half being operational spares.
Each Asian destination will have a full management team including a CEO. (all frontline staff will be outsourced)
All existing long haul flying will be code share (gifted) to offshore entities.
One A380 will be kept and converted to freighter to fly all the money made in Asia back to Coward Street, Mascot. (all existing mainline pilots will be retained but sent on LWOP until they die, saving on redundancy payments)

Credit Suisse does a Bill Shorten?
"(Credit Suisse) endorses the outcome of the review, with circumstances now both supporting and more urgently driving Qantas management to pursue meaningful break-out strategies sooner rather than later," he said.
So Credit Suisse supports the outcome of the review, even though the review has not been completed!
Sounds a lot like Bill Shortens support of the then PM even though he didn't have a clue about what she said.
Mr Shorten had been asked his views on whether the Australian Speaker should return to his role while allegations of sexual harassment are investigated.
He replied: "I understand that the Prime Minister's addressed this in a press conference in Turkey in the last few hours so I haven't see what she's said but let me say I support what it is that she said."
