From an article on 8th October 2013, regarding JQ Hong Kong & the delays receiving regulatory approval.
"Mr Joyce also emphasised that the airline had flexibility if it took longer to gain approval because it could move aircraft around Jetstar's operations in Asia and Australia"
Really?
What about the 6 aircraft (5 for JQ HKG) mothballed in Europe?

What is also deeply troubling is that at least five of JQ Japan's eighteen A320's are sitting idle at Narita, due lack of crew. Engine covers on, going nowhere. What are the approx lease costs per month for an A320, anyone? Who is paying that?
Qantas has confirmed that it will inject another $60 million into Jetstar Japan

By my reckoning, the biggest capex item at Jetstar in recent months has been engine covers. They have 2 idle A320s in MEL, 4 in TLS and apparently 5 in NRT.

Sunfish, there is a final act to go before the curtain call - the Qantas Sales Act. Once that is removed, its all on the table with our Chinese overlords the real cash behind The Dixon gang. Of course the WA Senate Black Swan (pardon the pun) missing 1370 votes may yet provide a new twist. I suspect that AJ's crew figured they could get the QSA repealed through the new Parliament & implemented their plan after the last election, not anticipating the possibility of a new WA Senate election. Can the cash last another 12 months?

Who cares what aircraft are flying, parked or on order for various versions of JQ.

Qantas - Asset striping Jetconnect / Jetstar NZ
Jetstar loses ground on Trans-Tasman routes - Business - NZ Herald News
The local Jetstar unit had $147.9 million of cash at the end of its 2012 financial year, and returned capital of $98.2 million to Qantas on March 22 last year, on top of a $58 million dividend payment to its parent the same day.
I will tell you why Jetstar lost ground on the Tasman. Someone in Management decided to destroy the market the J* had won by wholesale cancellations and changes to the schedule after the Canterbury Earthquakes.
Only in the very very recent past have they started adding capacity back in, around 18 months after Virgin and Air New Zealand saw a real recovery in passenger numbers.

That report, pointed out elsewhere is poor and inaccurate journalism. The money is coming from Jetconnect, which the journalist is calling Jetstar. There is no company named Jetstar NZ.

I guess Alan will not be happy again, now that the parked jet* plane story is in the main stream media, I love this bit.
and Ben's take...
poor Alan
Jetstar's Japan offshoot forced to park planes
The Qantas budget offshoot also declined to put a figure on the cost of the parked aircraft in Japan and France, emphasising that some of those in Tokyo would be used as ''operational spares''.

What an incompetent f@rkwit!
Cos what I'd do before I have contracts signed or licences & permits in my possession is buy a Toyota Hilux with a tradie trailer, fully kitted. I haven't got carpenters for some of them. I've got them parked up in the short term car park at Tulla. I've got six of them now but some other d!ckhead is paying for half of them (don't tell anyone but some shonky f@cka paid for my half as well, I made them nominate me as the majority owner )
