looks like the strategic leaks may have begun in order to soften up the ground for next Thursday.

I assume these three thousand jobs will be in addition to the one thousand previously announced.

As for the now firming rumour of withdrawal of services to London and Johannesburg, the systematic dismantling of a once proud and pioneering aviation company continues at the hands of right-wing ideological narcissists.

Enough to make a grown man cry.

Good luck to all those soon to be adversely affected by this hideous (mis) management. Especially those being thrown out on the aviation scrap pile for the second time.

QANTAS have denied reports the airline will cut up to 3000 jobs next week, labelling them as “unsourced rumours”.

“There are a series of unsubstantiated and unsourced rumours swirling around ahead of our half year results, ranging from estimates on job losses to route changes,” a Qantas spokesman said.

“The facts are that Qantas has flagged the need to make tough decisions as part of strengthening our business, which we will outline next Thursday. For our customers, this won’t change our focus on being one of the world’s best airlines.”

It comes after Fairfax Radio reported the airline would cut even more jobs as it hands down its half-year financial results next Thursday where it is tipped to announce a loss of more than $300 million.

I noticed today QF have ceased codesharing with SAA, if they cut the SYD-JNB flight as well SAA is going to clean up, no one wants to go via fing Dubai. I wouldnt be surprised if SAA try and start a SYD-JNB flight too, or at least a SYD -PER -JNB or similar..... My original source a few weeks ago saying 2900 job cuts seems like it will be acuurate, of course they will deny it, they have to inform the market prior to any news so their only option to any media outlets is to deny it, they would bebreaking the law otherwise. Suffice to say it is 100% certain the job cuts will be in the thousands and international routes cut.

There is also going to be a new motto launched for Qantas on the 27th.

"QANTAS, every other airlines best friend"

Rumour has it we will have one aircraft left by the years end that will only fly once a year and tickets will be allocated on a ballot bases for the rare opportunity to fly with the remaining 12 employees left at Qantas.

AJ will have his command by then through the Jetstar cadet programme so buckle up!

Curious too, is the announcement that Qantas has upgraded their ADR (American Depoitory Receipts) status from ADR to ADR Level 1.
This I expect, is to increase their shares exposure to the US, and although they will not trade on the New York Exchange or the Nasdaq and only through brokers or "across the counter", I can't help feeling that this has been left very late to do.
The staff dealing with this would have started weeks ago as it's a 8-12 week process and I'm wondering why now?

Anyone......?

Dubai have had their debt guaranteed by another Sheikh. Just like QF is doing now with the Australian government
How is that even remotely the same, one is a Government the other a publicly listed company?

As CEO of an airline that is lurching from loss to loss, from one crisis to another, do you reckon the little fella ever actually says quietly to himself I'm making a right freakin meal of this!

I think I would be humble enough to admit to myself that I was cockin it all up.

No.

Ego is a strong emotion capable of preventing a person from acting logically,so much so that the person is convinced that he/she is right in what they do.
Some people are able to harness this emotion and do great things. Alan Joyce is not one of them, nor is Clifford.

I'm wondering about DXB LHR. I'm sure Emirates would love the slots, but removal of QF from London would be a travesty in my opinion.

Loss of further routes will be on as suggested. Just my guesses.
Pretty much what I have heard. Further shrinking of our mainline fleet, staff and routes. The business is not getting restructured or run more efficiently, this business just keeps getting smaller and smaller. On an upside note I noticed a couple more managers created in a recent email.

Latest rumors doing the rounds are 6 744's retired, up to 9000 staff gone, JNB gone.

One wonders what 'tough measures' equates to in this climate

Latest rumour.. 9000 jobs!! I really really hope that's not true. That's not saving money, that's decimating the airline!

I agree it would be a travesty, most Aussies would, but sadly that is what is going to happen.

Qantas will be allowed to operate to DXB, then their new Masters Emirates will do all the DXB-LHR-DXB flights.

"And it is going to plan.

He has very little exposure to the European market place. He wants as little exposure to Europe as possible.
He has shifted massive amounts of work on to the Jetstar network.
He smashed the unions in 2 days when he shut the airline down.
He has convinced the government to guarantee a public companies debt.
His only domestic competition continues to lose money.
And he is about to get the government support to do what he ultimately wants as it will be a requirement from the government (to guarantee the debt) that the Qantas model as it is today is finished.

This post is not about debating the direction the QF group is going. Or the way he has gone about doing it. It is very simply stating FACTS.

And it is all going perfectly to plan."*******

THE ABOVE THE IS THE FIRST POST on this thread that actualy makes sense

the other 2500 odd posts are "F..KED" POSTED BY COMPLETE AND UTTER CLOWNS-
