Oh yes the Model Litigant rules another suite of rules supposedly designed to protect ordinary citizens from being done over by a Federal Agency.

Here's part of a letter of reply from the Office of Legal Services Coordination to an 'ordinary citizen' questioning whether certain Federal Agencies had breached the Model Litigant Rules:
OLSC monitors compliance with the Directions, including ensuring the Commonwealth and its agencies act in accordance with the model litigant obligation at paragraph 4.2 and Appendix B to the Legal Services Directions 2005 (Directions). The Directions are enforceable only by the Attorney-General. They are not enforceable by a court, tribunal, or other similar body.
The Directions apply only to Commonwealth agencies engaged in claims or proceedings of a civil nature. OLSC does not review the conduct of agencies in criminal proceedings. General Note 4 to the Directions specifies that “the Directions are not intended to cover the handling of criminal prosecutions and related proceedings unless expressly referred to.”
Basically the OLSC cannot do much other than make recommendations or put in place flowery sanctions i.e. "you have been a nasty Federal Agency but..carry on!"

It is just another legal 'feel good' gesture that Federal agencies, like CASA, simply pay 'lip service' to!

But M'lud

Every time the subject of 'law' raises it's somewhat battered head the following quote always comes to mind.

The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.
Anatole France (1844 - 1924), The Red Lily, 1894.

There are countless example of 'bad law' and almost as many different opinions on the subject. It depends, of course on your point of view. The arguments have raged since the neighbours moved into the cave next door. But for me it is when the 'spirit and intent' of the law suffers that the greatest damage is done.

Opinion has caused more trouble on this little earth than plagues or earthquakes. Voltaire.

"K" I prefer Sir Robert Menzies quote in regards to legal principle:
“The long-established and noble rule of Law, one of the greatest products of the character and tradition of British history, has suffered a deadly blow. Blackmail has become respectable.”
...or this from that out-spoken yank and diehard Republican Newt Gingrich:
“All free people stand on Reagan's shoulders. His principled policies proved that free markets create wealth, that the rule of law sustains freedom, and that all people everywhere deserve the right to dream, to pursue their dreams, and to govern themselves.”
With respect to Menzies and Gingrich, where have we gone wrong?

Cirque Du Skull - More chair shuffling.

Step right up step right up it's time to play another round of musical chairs!

Yes indeed, this time another Safety Systems Specialist in Brisbane has packed his bag and announced he is leaving the circus. His predecessor left around 12 months ago and bolted for the railways, toot toot. His replacement who lasted around 8 months has decided to also flee the carnie capers in the Big Tent and head into Mining.

Seems 'Team Terry' members certainly don't stay long. And there is still no replacement for the role of Safety Oversight Branch Manager.......

Good luck to them. I don't think they'll regret moving on from CASA.

"Veritas vos liberabit"

The truth shall set you free.

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. Buddha.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. Buddha.
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. Churchill.
I you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. Mark Twain.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters. Einstein.
All the religions of the world, while they may differ in other respects; united, proclaim that nothing lives in this world but Truth. Gandhi.
"(John 8:32) These memorable words, prominently incised on the U.S. Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C., hold a cherished place in our Western culture.
In all faiths, from the early Greeks, to the modern; in the Qur' an, the Torah, the James Bible, academic dichotomy, socialist rant: all. Despite the spin, the smoke and the mirrors; there is only one thing which will free this industry from it's chains.

The Greeks knew, the Romans, the Moslem, the Christian and the Jews knew.

Top Title..!

Cirque de Skull...Classic ..!!

Those that have just fled the Nut House will find its the best life move yet.

Wot NO SOBM..! good grief, why isnt the country closed down.

Not to worry, other chairs as illustrated before are being shuffled.
Will the coloured ballons go the appropriate personages...yellow for the corporate cowards, etc.

Our glorious, much read and handled, long-lived Safety rag is more except on the net.

Fear not ..the money saved by not printing it will be spent on a new Executive ( of course) Manager Safety Education and Promotion.
(Oz 17/08) Adult learning functionality (sic) in a corporate environment, strategic direction ? and outcomes?? vital etc etc .

Said job will be to find new and exiting ways to educate us dumb flying schmucks on diverse ways not to make smoking holes in hillsides and kindergartens. Think of the kiddies.! And stay away from clouds! Or else.!
Strict liability. No criminal intent ..or proof required either. Way to go.!

No doubt there will be some knockout original ideas like posters, postcards
and unreadable desk calendars. Gotta blow the budget on something.
I just hope to christ he/she doesnt think ofa magazine! Uh oh!

All things in life are cyclical. Next !

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!"

[YOUTUBE]

Could easily replace Jessup with Skull and change the words around a little..

Skull: "When crafting an elite regulatory force there are, inevitably, casualties (Terry's victims). You want the freedoms that CASA provides but you want Julia to console you with false platitudes."

Skull: "Your goddamned right I ordered a decimation of those GA cowboys!"

Staff turnover

Wonder how the staff turnover data looks these days?

Perhaps they should engage some consultants to do a staff engagement study!

Ones, that won't of course report what the elephant in casa is.

They trend data?? The only thing they know how to do is compile lists of the available taxpayer funded troughs and indulge to their hearts content.

Who could forget “The Aviation Producers” ??

“The Aviation Producers” was an aviation musical directed by Herr Gerhard Albanese.

In the show, the story concerns three aviation directors who scheme to pineapple industry by overselling interests in a Regulatory flop. The three Directors are Johann McCormick, Jurgen Alleck and Tederich Farquarhson. The humor of the show draws on ridiculous accents, caricatures of homosexuals and FOI’s, Nazis and Aerodrome Inspectors, and many in-house legal jokes and mirth. There are also some riotous moments where voodoo and black magic mixed with live pony tricks bring tears of laughter to the eyes of the captivated and spellbound GA community.

After 33 previews, the original 1988 regulatory reform production opened in Canberra, and ran for 2,502 performances, winning a record-breaking 12 ICAO Awards. It spawned a successful Montreal production running for just over two years, FAA national tours, and many productions worldwide and a 2008 film version titled ‘Das Is Mine Safety Systems’.

Pure "GOLD" Gobbles!!

Although you forgot the impromptu performances by Herr Fumblenese, during the intermissions, with scenes from the West(chairman's lounge) Wing...and how could we forget those exquisite Oriental scenes from "Crouching (Cringeing) Tiger, hidden (Piggies) Dragon starring the Ginger Ninja and co-starring Penelope Wong, with special effects from the Kruddster!

Oh those were the years....

From the Producers to Blazing Saddles

After the success of The Producers in Canberra it was repeated in 2010 with Blazing Saddles playing both in Canberra and Brisbane.

Two rare clips exist from this production. Is this how the thread got its name?

and for every school boy.... production of hot air.

Witch hunt moves to Canberra says Feminist lobby group.

An increasing number of women are being tortured and murdered in a series of witch hunts in Papua New Guinea, reports the Independent. The problem is so severe that the government has launched a new commission to address it. Women are often blamed for any untimely death in a tribe. "They used their powers to bewitch a man to death," said a community leader after a woman and her daughter were killed. "We had to get rid of them."

Many of the witch hunts are occurring in isolated areas difficult to patrol by the nation's police.
More than 50 of the deaths were discovered in only two provinces last year. But the deadly witch hunts, once exclusively rural, are now spreading to urban areas. "It's getting out of hand," said a government official.

Buy the hour

Might be 'cost effective' to bring 'em down to do the job here. Do they charge by the job or, by the hour. We will not pay for BC airfare - Y class only. Handle the transport Frank, I'll pass the hat around.
