And in what must be the ultimate irony, I was told the other day that (another large MRO) informed (a customer airline of long standing) that the MRO is unable to cope with any additional work, and hence the airline will either have to put their fleet expansion on hold or find another maintenance provider (for additional fleet units at least).

Even if another airline and /or an MRO approached JHAS to do overflow work(12months or 6 months ago). And even if that overflow work was enough to replace the Jetstar slots, it still would have not made any difference in the outcome of JHAS.
Leighton/JH did not win those 2 billion dollar contracts at Melbourne airport. So no big contracts, so no need to keep such a big property investment on the airport.
Its a shame that the dollar is highest priority, but thats why we create a business...for the dollar.

And with a puff of smoke they were gone......

Nothing like their arrival, guns blazing, ready to be the new sheriff in town!

Now just tumbleweeds.......and an eerie silence.

In other news a Ross Alexander was yesterday noted in the Fin Review as joining Deloitte as a partner specialising in "Financial Advisory".

Ross Alexander!!!!

Financial Advisory. He could show them monetary combustion!

Or, How to see your money go up in smoke.

I'm sure he has included his great success at JHAS in his Linked In profile.

I would love to see that spin!

Leighton Holdings Chairman replaced and the entire John Holland business unit is up for trade sale (amongst other things).

Interestingly the strategy to form the entire business into work streams Construction, Mining, PPP and Engineering was something David Stewart wanted to do some time ago.

Yep, John Holland sails off into the sunset to pursue other opportunities and invest it's money and enthusiasm elsewhere. And the aviation industry can go back to losing money and sending jobs overseas.
