Incident in CNS

Anyone heard about an incident in Cairns where an Airbus was in a low energy and wrong configuration state about a week ago?

I've had low energy since the kids arrived, and according to their fashion sense, completely devoid of any sensible configuration.

You guys crack me up. But if what I heard is true(I believe it is reliable) this will be no laughing matter.

and how come it only came into the open only now?
Tried to sweep it under the bed, the right authority is onto it now I believe and so is the good Senator Xenophon?

CNS is in Qld which is probably a better state to be in. Try
NSW or Vic for a low energy and wrong configuration state.

So Airbus are getting in early in showing how to circumvent the carbon tax?

Angryant who exactly is the 'right authority'!

Like I said in a differet thread;

Pilots - great at what they do, but think that that expertise extends to everything,

Stick with what you are good at..

That last sentence concerns me a little though.

Cool

Ok enough banter...

Can someone please shed some rumoured light on this low energy config state? (even if it did occur in QLD!)

Unfortunate incident involving a low time FO that improperly used the flap handle when gear down was asked for and again in the resultant go around.

Apparently

Going on previous form, no doubt the Capt will get retrained, extra sims, and checked and the FO will get a "there, there, its going to be alright" pat on the back.

Several airlines have had incidents where flaps have been selected instead of gear. Even QF, and I don't think they fit the peanuts/monkeys criteria. I think to assume its a case of monkeys on peanuts trivialises the issue and ignores the fact that no operator is immune from such occurrences.

I don't care about being all pc about this . Experience counts for everything.

You can't replace it

If my memory serves me correctly. QANTAS link ( national jet) had an incident in Cns on the Bae146 a number of years ago. Capt called for gear up after takeoff and the fo selected flap up. I believe it was close enough for the tower to think they were going to go in.

Well two things are for certain. If it is who I think it might be then a) All efforts will be utilized to keep the incident under wraps and the pilots will be consoled, not counseled, consoled. And b) Fort Fumble won't even take a look, way too busy catching out GA boys with ink smudges on their log books or faulty wiper rubbers!

Over to you Senator Xenophon, only you can unravel this mess. One day it will be a far worse outcome, we've been saying it for years, who knows it may be a bunch of Spamberra Pollies onboard when it does happen?

Monkeys

Reading this thread has been like reading the writings of monkeys!

Is Capt Claret the only grown-up here?

Experience does NOT prevent this kind of mistake.
