Enterprise Bargaining - enjoy the journey

In my inbox this morning. I don't know who made it or where it came from but I suspect someone out there should be working in an industry where they can earn a lot more cash than we do.

Thanks Fed Sec,

Feedback on the Video, it was good, not too long nor too short.

Have the company given any indication as to what they are thinking, or is all they are saying "Too hard / too expensive / need more information" ?

Some of their common quotes -

"We'll get back to you on that"

"We are looking into it"

"We haven't dismissed your claim but we are looking at all options"

"We don't have permission to agree to that"

"We are doing the costings around it"

"We just need a bit more time"

"Your an idiot Wesley"

"We have to check our contract arrangements"

"How about we take a break"

"We're going to be a little bit late"

etc....

OK I'll bite.... as a professional pilot on the Professional Pilot Rumour Network.

"Great video" .... are you serious!!!

How about an improvement like something as simple as a comb through the hair, let alone a shave. In my view, this shows little respect for the members, let alone the airline.

But more importantly is the statement - "the airline just makes excuses, like 'we are costing the proposals' ". I would certainly think they would need quite a bit of time to cost those ideas....
  • payment for training whether you actually do the training or not....
  • build the A380 engineering facilities so we can bid for the work...
  • etc
Please!!!!

I'd love to hear what the shareholders have to say about those gems. I hope like crazy this is just ambit rubbish!! You'll win no friends with them, nor the profesional pilots around here.

By the way, this is PPRuNe. Profesional Pilots rumour network. It is not PERuNe. I for one would rather you peddled this "sh!t in your own nest" cr&p elsewhere.

We put our claims to them at the very first meeting almost 6 months ago. They have been costing them ever since.

Thats what she said = Qantas Manager.

You and your silly opinion, are the joke.

Don't bite at the Pilot vs LAME slag. If anything, I've never seen a more galvanised workforce sharing the same opinion of such a low life corporate culture.

That’s What She Said

Well THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID Get out from under the table and wipe your mouth off!
I also would like to know what the shareholders think about all the millions of dollars that Qantas piss away fighting EA s while the executives stuff there pockets and go out for afternoon lunchin cock rub sessions on the corp. credit card

As for building an A380 hangar which no doubt the government would chip in a substantial amount to see that more Australians employed or would you prefer the work done overseas
Also I know other areas of the company have been in dispute on close on 2 years for around 30 dollars a fortnight pay rise which is well under inflation and also work in a poor facilities and lack of equipment. Mean while they have spent bucket loads contracting work out and are not being proactive to come to a fair resolution
I believe you have your head up your ar$e. pull it out and see what’s really going on

How would the pilots respond if the company wanted to implement, 'Pilot on demand'.

Typical selfish arrogance that hopefully doesn't represent the pilot ranks as a whole.

p.s. - further to this 'union movie' (brilliant by the way). It's about integrity and nobility. Not to be confused with the clowns sitting on the thrown, but the nobility of the worker who makes it happen daily, putting his arse on the line, and when required, standing the line.

I am all for some solidarity in the industry and reigning in the loose units running the show at the moment but that movie is a bit embarrassing and I wouldn't want to be associated with it. Certainly wouldn't want it to go viral and my friends and family think that it is indicative of my way of presenting an industrial opinion. It seems like weak emotional rubbish to me. Makes me want to reach for a bowl even though it's representing my basic opinion.
Each to their own though I guess. Just my opinion.

Thats what she said

as a professional pilot
I don't think your post has represented your 'profession' very well. I trust your sense of humour isn't representative of all 'professional pilots'. However,

1) What lenght of time do you think is sufficient to cost a log of claims for a company with the resources that QF has at it's disposal?
2) How would you deal with a company that uses every opportunity to offshore jobs no matter what the quality of work purchased?
3) Do you think it's acceptable for QE to cut back on training so much that the regulator regularly issues non-conformances for both AME and LAME numbers?

I don't think that you are a 'professional pilot' with QF because your views don't align with any of the professional pilots that QF does employ that have spoken to me. They understand what it is like trying to deal professionally with the present management.

Thank you for so graciously letting us mere engineers use your web site though. Could I be so bold to suggest that you don't read this particular thread, or waste your 'professional pilot's' time by contributing to it, if you find it offensive?

You have immediately Identified yourself as a tosser or someone living in Sydney probably both.

Why should someone shave? For you? Why should we comb? Because it is decent?

I for one dont give a toss about someones looks, its a good video showing the claims of the professional engineers. Hell Im less shaven than him haha!

As for costings, I would be very surprised if there were not multiple linked spreadsheets at HR, complete with macros, that can and do calculate "what if" scenarios for various combinations of wage and allowance changes at the push of a button.

Six months to do costings? Six hours is more like it.

It would even be a good idea for the union to build it's own model of engineering labor costs, it isn't that hard. You just have to add in super and workcover and makes some guesses about provisions for annual leave, training, etc.
