Buying An Endorsement - One Step Backwards For Two Steps Forward

What has the airline industry come to?

I’m looking for a job and although I have three jet ratings and jet experience the only opportunities nowadays is either on the jets I’ve flown, (which limits your options), or the requirement to ‘buy a type rating’ on a different jet the airline I apply to wants.
Talk about ‘paying for a job’.

It’s very much a case of ‘one step backwards to go two steps forward. Especially when you consider the pay and conditions of these budget airlines.
How are you supposed to pay your mortgage, etc, with this culture?

What an appalling industry it is now.
I regret getting into to it all those years ago.

What has the airline industry come to?

In the Fin Review today:

More Pilots Needed
Boeing said airlines will need to add 466,650 pilots within two decades, double the size of the current global workforce, to support fleet expansion as travel demand recovers.
The fat lady will sing (eventually).

I certainly hope you are correct, but Ive heard that for many years now.

Admittedly, the industry was possibly approaching the best times in my career, before the GFC put a huge stop to that.

Certainly the first time Ive been laid off.
