Pacific Blue new advert
Has anyone else seen the new Pacific Blue add on TV today in New Zealand. It is such a lame copy of AirNZ "Nothing to Hide" promotion.
It features a bunch of hosties signing & dancing the safety demo, while passengers rageing the cabin.
They are not really going to use this safety demo are they? unlike the one that NZ made and are really using?

Air NZ, southwest, PacBlue - one day they might wake up and realise that trivialising the safety demo and the onboard environment is the hallmark of the unprofessional.
Add the likes of Branson exploiting young women in VOZ ads and is it any wonder that our industry is seen with such disdain by the public.
I want the CC on my aircraft to be seen as confident safety professionals not left over would be's from an episode Australian Idol or a talent show.
Rule 21: measure everything through the eyes of the potential buyer of the product - not some w*nker from an ad agency's after a long lunch.
Oh.... just too show balance......... A hometown bucket ...
QF - spending 10 mill on the kids choir ad that doesn't even show the product and uses the stock vision from the previous two extravaganzas WTF! ....... (I am glad to see the agency did spend a little on an editor who turned the great Australian over the top documentary back into a very ordinary television ad which was what it was supposed to be in the first place.)

Just when I thought things couldnt get worse. They are trialling red stilletto's for the female CC across the three operations to wear to and from the aircraft. They are like the ones seen in the VAustralia ad and look very practical not to mention comfortable.
I am sure they will be a great success and the OH&S people will not have to worry about CC falling over, falling down stairs, breaking ankles, tearing ligaments, back injuries, etc.
The Village are definitely some of the smartest people going round arent they.

Pacific Blue aircraft have no video screens in the cabin, so they couldn't show it as a video demonstration even if they wanted to.

I am surprised that the DJ & V CC's did not complain about the 'get it up' ads - not a male in sight and the whole look of the ads/posters is pretty demeaning to women and certainly destroys any professional cred for a CC's role)

To be honest, i actually liked the NZ Safety demo - although it was still happy and smiling, I thought it still came across as professional and serious. The Pacific Blue one on the other hand, looked like a high school musical! I guess it gets across what it is trying to say though - a message of 'Happy Flying'. Certainly would make businessmen / women and older passengers cringe though!

To be honest I pax on the airnz 737's quite alot, what I do notice is that alot of people in the cabin do watch it. Unlike the Pac Blue one the airnz one has some class and you can understand what they are saying. With the traveling public, I have only heard a few negative comments.

Anyone else notice the drinks service during the safety service.
Although a couple of Vodka's before take of at WLG on a bad day, sounds like a good idea
I'm not sure why they mention there cheap fares there lead in for AKL-WLG is $64.95(no bags) when NZ is $49(25kg bag)
I don't think they want businessmen/women any more, there first flight of the day AKL-CHC leaves at 9.30am & there last CHC-AKL flight leaves at 2.30pm

How many times have we been told it's not acceptable any longer to include the dreaded 'flair' in the safety demo? Something the marketing team isn't aware of obviously.
Another wasted opportunity and wasted money.

It's time everyone got over it - it's not a real safety demo, it's an advertisement!
I'm quite happy for the company to advertise in any way that means I'll have a job in 12 months time!
The issue with people we've hired in the last few years is that they forget everything that the VB group is about - it's about doing things fun, differently & pushing the boundaries a bit! You knew this when you took the job - if you don't like it there's a lot of other airlines out there you could work for.
The marketing at times might be "cringeworthy" but it gets people on our planes - you only have to look at the feedback from our pax to know that they love our "fresh" attitude.
