See in the paper today that Joyce has bought a lean to with a shed at the Rocks in SYD for a cool four and half mil. Sort of gives you the sh%ts when a bloke has worked for forty nine years, and the ar$e has fallen out of your super , and they have locked the rest of your money up. My own fault, instead of pushing the buggers around the sky, I should have brown nosed myself into a managers position, and reaped the rewards.

Dixon still takes more...

GEOFF Dixon was granted an extra $7.66 million superannuation payment in his last 18 months as Qantas chief executive, taking his golden parachute to almost $20 million worth of cash and shares.
BusinessDaily has learned that on top of his controversial $12 million 2008 pay deal, Mr Dixon also received the superannuation bonus of $7.66 million.

On Friday, angry shareholders, arguing that Mr Dixon's 2008 salary package was "excessive", pressed the annual meeting to reject the board's recommendations on director and executive pay rates.

Pay protesters posted a 42.42 per cent vote against the report.

Investor concerns were sparked by a report published last Friday by Melbourne based corporate government advisers, RiskMetrics.

Mr Dixon's 2008 cash and incentive payments were branded "excessive" by RiskMetrics which pointed out that he had received more than his opposite numbers at 11 of the world's biggest airlines.

In its 2007 report, RiskMetrics noted that a former arrangement gave Mr Dixon and then-chief financial officer Peter Gregg, who resigned recently, termination arrangements which were replaced last year by a new system of rolling contracts.

Thumbs down

The 7.66 mill for Geoff's super is old news. It was widely reported when it happened about mid last year. Of course it's essentially tax free given the new super rules. It was something to do with the fact that Geoff went from a 'fixed term' deal to an 'ongoing' tenure. It's hardly a new thing but that still doesn't make it right.

What's new???? most big companies the CEO's are making $$$$$'s loads its nothing new and it wont be for years to come.....

However, put it in your own shoes, IF you were the CEO you wouldn't mind earning all that money would you not?

Skystar 320, I think you will find it is the gross hypocrisy that most people resent GD for.
While calling for restraint from everyone else in QF he and his inner circle have helped themselves to obscene pay rises and bonuses.
Meanwhile the people at the coal face have been trying to do their best with fewer and fewer resources at their disposal. The chickens are now well and truly coming home to roost. You can cut fat, but once the muscle and bone are cut you have HUGE problems. That over cutting has been happening for many years now in the name of "cost cutting". What it has really been is "standard cutting".
Let's hope the new CEO realizes the value of his staff and treats them like assets and not liabilities like someone else did.
If AJ does he will be richly rewarded and QF may once again prosper in more ways than just the bottom line. Look after your staff who look after your customers who look after your profits. Is that so hard to grasp for the modern day wizz?
Take a leaf from Rob Fyfe's book at Air New Zealand. Very impressive man!

Without trying to get into a war of words, irrespective to what Geoff has done [I am no great believer, nor did understand 100% of his actions]

The last few debates was his pay..... at the end of the day you always going to get CEO's that have fat arse's thanks to the over - excessive pay's?

Who is really worth $5,000 + an hour?

Read it all in our crappy little rag up here, but does have a 3/4 million readers. It concerned me somewhat that rather than get stuck into management, it choose to get into the engineers. www.goldcoast.com.au not a fair or correct read.

Firstly i have to say thank god he's gone, secondly FOG!

As he's left the buliding and counting his money lets move on and try and forget him, not possiable i know but its a start.

What constantly amazes me on a daily basis is how these people get away with this kind of behaviour in the first place, to receive that kind of payout after his 'managment' of the company beggers belief.

'Greed is good' whent the 80's mantra, well that may be in need of a change in these times, are the worlds CEO's living on a differant planet when it comes to remuneration/performance ratios?

Where are the sharholders powers in all this? or is it a case of the major shareholders being insitutions and their voting overides small investors desires for a more measured package?

Quite an interesting look at how someone else is doing it and perhaps a glimpse into the future.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

Look at the anger in the US with the three major car manufactouring CEO's flying off to Washington to ask for a bail out, no problem Washington said, come on down and lets talk, then came the admission that all three flew in their corporate jets, in their own corporate jets, 3 CEO's, 3 seperate corporate jets off to Washington to beg for money. And they wondered why the guys and gals on the hill were not recepetive to their plea?

CEO's.......where to next for this bunch? are they heading towards the bottom of the respect list joining the other undesirable, untrustworthy 'professions' like lawers and politicians?

Answers on a post card please.

Sorry dont agree we should forget. If we do, then we let them get away with it, and condone the next time it happens.

We should be loud, we should be vocal and we should let the world know how these self interested execs took everyone for a wild and hairy ride, where there was never any risk to their fortunes, at the cost of many, and merely for doing their damn jobs which they were already highly paid.

The profits were illusionary because of the costs not reflected on the balance sheets.

To hell with them yes, but never let them for a moment think we have forgotten what they did and what they tried to do.

If you want a real CEO then check our Air NZ, now there is a track record that should be the envy of all.

All talk no action

CEO'S Salaries have been obscene for years not just the last year or so. I find it amusing it has only become an issue now that everyone else is suffering, if we were serious we would have protested in the streets years ago. It takes action not rhetoric and Australians are at the lower end of the action spectrum quite frankly. I can assure you my abusive emails to FOG and a whole rest of CEO's have been flowing for years , not that I got much response, a couple I did. We can all complain here but it means nothing action it!

.....and this and the also the decimation didn't happen when it was:

- Australia's airline, not GD's, and
- Australia's Department of Aviation not GR's, and
- Australias Flight Standards not BB"S.
the list goes on.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh the Tyranny of unfettered Power and Greed.
