Vaile joins Virgin Blue board

This is an interesting one . . . wasn't he previously the Minister for Qantas?

Vaile joins Virgin Blue board

Former deputy prime minister Mark Vaile has joined the board of Virgin Blue as a non-executive director.

The budget airline says the appointment will add a new dimension of experience to the board as it expands regionally and internationally.

Mr Vaile resigned from federal Parliament in July.

You don't read proper. That is what Pedota said.
Vaile was the minister for QANTAS.

The pre-eminent Minister for Qantas will always be, in my view, that Anderson.

Wow.

If he does as great a job with Virgin as he did as Minister for Transport, Virgin is in trouble. A useless Transport Minister (admittedly not as bad as some) - he will no doubt bring his 'vast expertise' in aviation maters to Virgin. Why on earh do they appoint such clods to boards just because of their political background???? But then again, Byron spent some time with Virgin as well. Enough said.

Do VB really believe Vaile will bring any value to their business? or is his role to be an agent of mischief?

As others have already said, not the worst (that belongs to Anderson IMO)but still a myopic minister who only gave alms to the Red Rat.

The last thing that VB needs right now is more parasites at the top.

Bloody hell, abc1, it's called corporate governance! Every ASX listed company has to have a board to represent the shareholder's interests - that's what non-executive directors do. I doubt he'll play much in the day to day of the company so don't lose any sleep over his appointment.

Look out for more soon as the Toll board members make way for more independent directors.

What he needs to do is get some of that FAT CAT public service push flying Virgin and soon VA. They have the money. I feel Virgin should have a domestic Business class as does QF, that's where the money is both domestic and longhaul.

MV at VB

What a bunch of cynics! It seems to me that it would not matter who was the Minister for Transport they would never please most of the posters on this thread.

Personally I'm very surprised about this appointment as Virgin don't offer First Class (to my knowledge at least), so why would he be interested?

Cheers.

Failed Jackaroo from Taree

He could only be a token figurehead.

Vaile was a useless transport minister; did nothing.

His experience can be summed up as the "Failed Jackaroo from Taree".
