Airline CEO's - Out of Touch
Given the position of Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon that no employee (not management) in Qantas is worth more than a 3% payrise per annum I think his salary needs highlighting.
Column 1 - Salary Column 2 - Shares issued
2001 1,166,051 1,500,000
2002 2,456,905 250,000
2003 2,309,384 250,000
2004 6,091,272 600,000
2005 6,482,673 150,000
2006 5,271,475 749,500
2007 6,707,251 558,000
Total Salary Receipts (7 years) $30,485,011
Total Share Receipts (7 years) 4,057,500 (worth $14,079,525 as at 30/05/2008)
Total Remuneration Package value (7 years) $44,564,536
Total Salary Increase 575%

Nunc est bibendum
jake, does that include the millions that were tipped into his super a couple of years back when they changed his employment status? I recall that he and John Borghetti were given something like 5 million into their super in the lead up to the tax free superannuation.
This is the only reference I could find to it online:
Rest of the article here and it was written more than a year ago!
This is the only reference I could find to it online:
IN 1999 a first-year, full-time phone sales consultant at Qantas earned about $30,500 a year. The Qantas chief executive of the day, James Strong, earned about $1.9 million.
By 2006, something had changed in this picture.
A Qantas employee in the same position earned about $38,000. But the Qantas chief executive of the day, Geoff Dixon, earned about $5.3 million.
The worker's salary had gone up by about 25 per cent over seven years. But the chief executive's had gone up by 175 per cent.
Now, with Dixon quietly cashing out his existing contract for $8 million, with a separate cash bonus of up to 200 per cent of his new salary from 2007-08....

"jake" yr subject heading would have to be the understatement of the year! Shame none of them (CEO's) would barely take notice of it!
Like pollies, they get in there, take take, rort rort & destroy & leave with more money than you can poke a stick at. At least there's a consolation prize with all this, the likes of GD will end up just like the rest of us, worm food! And if there is a Hell & heaven I know where he's going & am sure he won't be alone DOWN there!

Please be careful about lumping ALL CEOs together. I know of times when the Chief Pilot, the Chief Engineer and the Chief Financial Offficer were all getting more than the CEO.
I didn't mind... I was on secondment and I enjoyed the job.

The fact that this sort of thing goes on is beyond belief. How much longer will we stand around while CEOs deny their employees a reasonable pay rise while giving themselves a totally unreasonable payrise?
CEO pay is completely out of control. The fact it keeps getting justified shows how stupid we all are.

Dicko's Dash for cash
You can post as much as you like on this, but ol' rhino skin couldn't give a sh!t. He and his mentor Turbo Tie hate your airborne butts and he'll take you out if you stick your heads up pleading "more please?"

micturating in the slipstream
Chaps - just suggesting the bleed'n obvious:
1 simply highlighting Dixon et als snout in trough slurping is , to use the Aust. vernacular, -- "pissing in the wind"--- fun but it makes you wet!
2 to address any of your concerns meaningfully-- you can only initiate Industrial action through your AIPA and AFAP Unions
It's all you've got- anything else just encourages them!

Maybe Mr Dixon should take a look at the management style of Theo Paphitis.
(TV prog. Dragons Den) He has managed to amass a fortune turning round failing companies.
His golden rule? “Treat your staff well & they will make the company”
