Thumbs up Virgin Service

My daughter was booked on VB yesterday from Melbourne to Mackay. You may have heard that Mackay was hit with 600mm rain in 6 hours, so runway closed, airport closed all day.

VB got her as far as Brisbane, provided a cab voucher and hotel accommodation in Spring Hill, then picked up all of the pax in a bus this morning for an additional flight to Mackay above the normal scheduled services.

I'm very impressed when any company looks after my family in such a great way. Nice one VB.

great to hear a positive story about airline service for once...i'm sure this sort of stuff happens a lot, it's just human nature that we hear the negatives...

Good to hear things about an Australian based airline doing its bit for customer service. You will not hear about this one on the 'bleeding battlers' programs.

All airlines should adopt this approach with pax. Initially there's some outlay for hotel rooms, cabs and meals but in the long run they will be better off because passengers will come back and fly that airline because they were looked after previously.

Recent entrants to the market who cancel flights and leave pax to fend for themselves or don't take ownership of the problem etc end up losing big time with all the negative press, however it seems that some airlines always have to learn the hard way.

Let's face facts though. LCC's don't give a rat's bum about their passengers. After all you get what you pay for and it's the $$$$$$ that will always attract people to LCC's. No amount of adverse publicity will deter people from a bargain.

A good story for a change.

As we are told so often, it's all about choice. The lesson from this story is to choose wisely!!

I'm sure those pax now would think twice about a $9 or 1 cent fare with the others - well done VB - good to see.

(AJ & Westy should note the outcome and while this story didn't get a run I'm sure the pax will probably tell a few hundred people each and upsell VB.)

Not trying to be smart, but it is worth confirming that it was DJ that had the 1c fares this month where they absorbed all the taxes and charges also. They've always had great front line service, but what is good to see is that the company mirrors this ethos and applies it to its own policy on how to handle situations. Unlike the infamous 'You get what you pay for' response from at least one of the others. 'You get what you pay for' - You sure do. Let the public decide.

Looks like a good platform from which to launch a long haul, full service carrier I reckon.

Did anyone see the breif profile of V Australia on My Business Success on Ch 9 this morning?

And with the new trans Pacific open skies policy. Q.F better sharpen their act up. Flew Air N.Z to L.A last Sept - impressive service - nice 777 .
I'll certainly give Virgin a try next time , they have been my preferred domestic carrier for a few years now.
