Virgin-More flying and more money!!

I hear that DJ are expanding thanks to QF replacing mainline services with Jet*.
Funny how disgruntled QF passengers are turning to DJ rather than the low cost option they were being 'forced' onto by one eyed QF management. At what point do the board look at what GD is doing in sacrificing the high yield mainline product to try and grow Jet* when it is actually growing the DJ business and say STOP!!
When was the last QF ad on TV??
As a result DJ are short and are offering greatly increased incentives to fly on days off. Might be a good time to hit Virgin bosses up for more money in the EBA as well!!

It will stop when Jetstar is rebranded Qantas or Jetstar get the staffing contract with QF. Then everything will go back to full service under the QF banner with some of the lowest paid pilots in the Western World. If it comes off they will be very hard to compete with I would imagine.

Jetstar is already morphing into QF with jetstar pax redeeming Freq Flyers, usage of Qantas lounges, allocated seating etc etc etc. Not a bad deal for a so called seperate entity. Will be very interesting to see what happens once all the mainline EBA's start coming around.

Spot on Neville!

Rebranding is the word and it's set to happen within 3 years!

I can hear it now.
"Yes... well my father was a Qantas captain as was my grandfather and my great grandfather was a captain in the merchant navy so I was always destined to be a QANTAS pilot.... So where did you come from captain?........ Say again please.... it almost sounded like you said Impulse!"

Interesting coming in to work this morning listening to the ABC feedback line (recorded bouquets & brickbats) re recent events. Now I missed the story that inspired such responses (which is a shame) but I estimate that around 8 recorded messages were aired & EVERY single one was to do with J* - none of them compilmentary. - Just an idle observation of public opinion.
A fantastic thing is talkback radio, as are the letter pages in the newspapers.

Only a fool would believe that the views expressed via talkback radio or letters to the editor are the views of the majority.

JQ v QF v DJ

I have watched all the bitching going on here for a while now, and I am coming off the fence with some comments and some questions. On Domestic issues only, if I can I would prefer QF, assuming the service standard is what is was, and sometimes is, but seemingly less often. Then its DJ or JQ, well have flown both and I do prefer a B737 over an A320, but I have to say the JQ was quite OK from a RPT customer point of view, fly in the US and you see what I mean.

Family members recently went to Adelaide and back, comment was more comfortable on the A320, and maybe it is, so what is the difference in seat width, and pitch between JQ and DJ and QF for that matter on their domestic services. Understanding of course some a/c configs could be different in the same fleet, but generally speaking.

As for food and drink, well anywhere locally really does not require much any way.

A/C I do not beleive anywhere in my post did I state that talkback & letters were a reflection of the majority.

Hang on I'll re -read.

Nup - never made that statement. But they are something of a barometer of considered opinion, especially in a such an apathetic society.

Ok it's my fault I should never have bitten - twice

I didn't say you did, and surely that was obvious.

Please explain?

Callers to talkback radio are often a "self selecting" sample, and their views are heavily influenced by the views of the host and/or the content of the particular programme (not to mention screened by the production staff before being allowed on air).

Only a fool would believe that the views expressed by aircraft have any basis on reality, common sense or decent research!

aircraft, I suggest that PPRUNE is too sophisticated for you. You'd be more at home at www.bobthebuilder.com.

interesting post. recently flew j* south and vb return. i feel that the 320 real cramped compared to the 737. particularly the overhead area. bins etc. also was on the new vb aircraft (only one at this stage) with the in seat tvs. i must say awesome. much better than than the jq portable jobbie on the seat back table. we were offered the service free for the 4 hr flight which was a nice touch as well. i must say vb much better product and i try to fly them over the qf products whenever i can. hosties big plus with both as well, as opposed to qf who get pissed off if you breath the wrong way... its actually a pleasure to fly with these guys and i haven't felt that in a while.
i honestly believe vb the best carrier in aus at the moment. i'm not talking just the flight, but the price, and service from check in to disembarkation. To add on same flight i was 7 kgs over limit with baggage, they didn't chrage for that as they should have and gave me exit row seat without request. j* no such thing and they charged me the extra and it was less than 7 kgs over. lets not even discuss what qf would have done. JACK S$%T. can't wait till they start operating further a field and i can rid myself of 12 hours torture with qf.

Its funny isnt it, All the bitchiness and squabbling between the Q v J*, both here, publicly and internally and we dont seem to hear much at all from DJ. Yet the last profit was up. They have gained ground on the Business market and they continue to make quiet grounds with there expansion plans. (very good word the deal for the 10 EMB 190 is all but done and the longhaul announcement may be closer than people think.) Not even thinking of who will actually crew the longhaul but a decent full service across the pond will really hurt the Q business market. Atlantic for years have been leading the way in first class business service to the US from UK and there is no doubt that they will take many of the lessons /services across to the US. As many have already said here i think the jetstar thing has only helped DJ gaining more Q pax and I think there will be more to come soon

Just remember folks. Jetstar pilots asked to join the Q union and the Q pilots said no.
No one to blame but themselves.
