And to the average punter a Conquest is a Chieftain is a plane with 2 engines
Obviously Deejay has'nt been in a conquest!!

Dog One
Thank you for your comments re PA31/C402.
Yes I was referring to the look and size of the plane, not its performance and other technical bits and pieces.

Howard Hughes.
Correct never flown in a Conquest but have had an inspection of O'Connors and seen a few.
You can't compare piston vs turbine when it comes to speed.

And stand by my comments re to the average punter a Titan is a Conquest is a Chieftain with 1 driver, 2 engines and a crawl thru cabin. And lets not even think of bringing the Caravan into the discussion!

How many punters would be ready to shell out big bickies to know they are flying in a Cessna at the end of the day?

Appearance is everything, God knows the Chieftains used to get some pretty "positive" comments about their appearance. If only passengers knew that one of the seats was a toilet!

Re: O'connor Flying To Port Augusta

After all this discussion, I see nothing in the online schedules or on O'Connor's website about the new flights to PUG. Are they confirmed?

Yon Garde

Excuse my ignorance, and please no one laugh, but please explain re the "Boomer".

Apacau

Yep just checked the web site and there is still no schedules.
If they want to capture the suits would probably have to consider haveing 2 Conquests in ADL.
What will be of interest will be the fares - will they make Whyalla and Port Augusta the same level? Its something I would consider.

Hello all

Its so good to be back!

O'Connor still haven't updated their site yet, although Port Augusta does show in their tiemtable in black effective 13 Feb, but with no times/no's.

Bit spooky tho is that Mildura sched is being affected same day.

Does anyone esp in Mildura know whats going on?

Still reckon that they need 2 Conquests in Adelaide to do it properly.
Anyone remember the Renmark trial back in April/May 2001 using one aircraft?

Thumbs up

It's a happening thing boys and girls, so sit back and relax and watch the show unfold. Hopefully the folk of Port Augusta support the service and appreciate the work and commitment that O'Connors are putting into this service. The schedule might not be perfect but there is only so much one can do with limited resources.

Indeed Fascinating, I'm sure its a happening thing!

However, O'Connor still don't have a sched on their website, but I've noticed that they now have Pt Augusta on their route map.

Any idea of the times then??????????????????

And Dirty Sanchez, loved to have seen your post!
Are you ex ASA then???????

Well with an arrival into Adelaide of 1030 and a dep ex ADL of 1600, reckon the Port Augusta locals might think they have been gipped, compared to the old ASA schedule.
Whyalla services should still be doing well.

O'Connor in trying to use one plane and one assumes the one pilot from the Mildura flights are heading down the same path as their Renmark experiment in 2001, which saw from memory sim sorts of times,. That didnt work then, times and easier to drive???, and given that Port Augusta has got real planes with 2 drivers only 45 mins down the road and with 4 services a day, 3 - 6 months might be the life span.

ex Adelaide traffic might just like it, although the arrival into PUG of 0935 is still pretty late for the professional market, and if MQL is running late the knock on effect will be evidnet.

Deejay 1 Going on the arrival/departures times you quoted; Something tells me that either the stated times will change a bit 'in due course' or the service won't last that long!!
