John admits he got NAS wrong.
Did anyone else see the press conference that John Anderson gave at the Australian Press Club (I think thats what it is called) .
He finally admitted he got NAS wrong.
Sorry could not find a link on the ABC website. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

How magnanamous from the Minister for Qantas.
Makes you wonder though, with statements like that how does that make Dick Smith's appeal to the court look?
While we're at it, I wonder whether Dick will be contributing towards Mr Andersons re-election campaign?

Nothing in this version of the transcript. (**WARNING - contains image of John Anderson).
Perhaos it was in the Q&A afterwards? If so, none of our esteemed media have picked it up.

Regarding the political donation you will have to check the charitable donations to the Greenfields Foundation which in turn donates to the Coalition parties.
Where can you get a copy of those that donate to the Greenfields Foundation, look up Google under 'Bottom of the Harbour' schemes to avoid public accountability and transparency.

Uncommon sense, that's just Anderson's transcript of his address to the national press club. After the address (normally about 30 minutes) the reporters ask questions (Normally about 30 minutes). That's where it would have come up.
Dunno if they do transcripts of that, maybe on Anderson's website, I will sus it out and get back to you.

Yes it was during the Q&A afterwards. A reporter asked him if he thought he got something wrong during the last term or could have done something better. He thought for a while. The only thing he could have come up with was NAS.

At the national Press Club address by John Anderson, he clearly said different to that reported here. He emphasized that Government policy clearly supports NAS. Further, he asserted that if and when re-elected, he would implement the new Airspace Directorate as soon as possible, and when asked much much later during questions, “did he have any regrets” he said “not implementing the Airspace Directorate sooner”.
He certainly did not say he regrets NAS, in fact he made his support for it clear.
I hope this clears things up.
Bob Murphie.

Bob,
That is unfortunate as all it does is prove that he is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot!
The low esteem in which he is held by the "mainstream" aviation community seems justified if he doesn't regret the NAS debacle.
It would have been an interesting answer if he was asked did he regret having anything to do with Dick Smith!

Sorry Bob it seems you too like the minister have got it wrong.
I fly is on the money. During the Q & A he responded to a Q and said someting along the lines "we are human and we make mistakes", a reporter jumped on this and asked him what mistakes in which he responded "National Airspace System" nothing about directorate.
And a Q for you Bob. Assuming you are right and I am wrong. Not having this Airspace Directorate in place before NAS was introduced, isn't that a admission in itself that he got it WRONG?

Andreson's policy is the problem, not any specific part of it, but because it is fragmented, unplanned and random.
That is why GA needs to loudly tell him there is a problem. He is too dim to work it our for himself.

hello everyone,
re Anderson & NAS ...... Murphie's correct ...... Anderson wouldn't be that dumb (believe it or not) ...... it was ---- 'not setting up the airspace authority sooner' that he regretted

Interestingly in the transcript I saw, after a lengthy spiel indicating support for NAS, he said something like
Also that if re-elected he would order a review of Airservices "from top to bottom".
"Were you listening then, << insert here name of AOPA honcho>>?"

Posted for Bob Murphie:
asymmetric;
You need a bit of rudder to keep balanced but I got it direct from two people who were at the Press Club.
Anderson said "I didn't set up the Airspace Directorate far sooner". He made absolutely NO mention of NAS in this answer.
Make no mistake that the answer to the question that was actually about Airservices, plus this, left nobody in any doubt what he meant, that if this had not been in the hands of Airservices, but in independent hands, there would never have been any nonsense like the "E over D Risk Analysis", where the external analysis are running 6-0 against.

Hopefully what he did or did not say becomes an academic point this time next week, and the baton of incompetence is handed over to a newcomer.
Anderson will become just part of the sick joke during the bad dream.
I am sure you will not agree.

Anderson's posturing re the Airspace Directorate is just that.
In accordance with their Act and safety management system, Airservices must conduct a thorough safety analysis of any proposed changes to the air traffic management system, whether initiated from within or outside the organisation. If a safety analysis indicates that something is unsafe, then - someone correct me if I'm wrong - an Airspace Directorate would not have the authority to force them or CASA to implement it (nor does the Minister I suspect).
