Post Freedomair to get 319's

Freedom will phase out 737 Classic fleet at the end of the year, an additional 737-300 will be added for a short term lease with the first A319 expected early in the new year.

Don't suppose it has anything to do with a "Have I got a deal for you" offer from Airbus to bundle 5 A330-200, 3 A330-300 cheaply with 6 A319 options converted from the ANZ order would it?

Of course then there are the Conspiracy theorists who see JetStar and Freedom offering the same product on essentially the same platform talking about areas of co-operation. Nah!!!

Looks like we will be making a lot more aircraft models for a while

Freedom Air are NOT getting Airbus A319's, but four A320's to be delivered during 2005, these aircraft will slowly replace the 5 Freedom Air B737-300's

ZK-SJB
ZK-SJC
ZK-SJE
ZK-FDM
ZK*** (leased to Freedom Air)

Also nothing has been confirmed by Boeing, Airbus or Air New Zealand on replacement aircraft for its current B767-300 fleet …Airbus A330’s have been suggested but Air New Zealand is still looking into this…

Sorry KFB but I think you will see that they are going to go for 319's ....... don't want to have to say I told ya so! The 319 is a better option on a full budget operation such as Freedom ..... cost per seat KM etc.

but how many sardines can you cram into a a319?, one would have thought the a321 would have been better for what freedom does, they did used to operate a 757

I think you'll find (although I'm not a whiz on that electronic gizmo) that the range on the 319 is greater than the 320 & 321.

Thus allowing Cairns to be possible....

Good on ya LAME! .......... I will post you one!

319 is a good economics aeroplane but given the 'teething' problems ANZ are having I would prefere an NG ...... personal opinion only but hey thats why I drive a Holden and not the F... word.

Its interesting to see how many people bag airbus. It is out selling Boeing by nearly 2 to one at the moment. At that rate Asia, the highest Growth Region in Aviation in the world will be swarmed by them soon. Which probably leads to more pilots being type rated Airbus than Boeing, but proabbaly alot more cross typed on both.

BCF Breathe I belive you right about the A319 in range. We get Air Canada ones down here Carribean from Halifax in Canada.

From what I understand A319 also has better performance for shortfield/obstacle critical fields. The A321 is gutless compared to B757.
