Have I asked this before?
When you have a hold like Timba at LGW, do you go outbound for the distance printed on the chart or you do it on time? Everybody that I fly with has a different view on it.
Thanks. ;) |
I do have not have a copy of either MATS pt 2 or a chart to hand, but I think you should hold between the positions of TIMBA and LARCK as is it a published VOR/DME hold.

Over+Out,
Thank you very much for your views. I have a new one which I will post straight after this. |
I've eventually found my Part 2 and as of the last ever update received, our Timba STAR chart dated 23 March 2000 states:
TIMBA (MAY R131 D7) Inbound Axis: 311 deg Right Hand hold pattern Inbound Turn starts position MAY R112 D12 Passes through LARCK (MAY R120) halfway through inbound turn. I know an ammendment has come out since this one, but nothing too major has changed so the principles are just about as above. Now to cram the book back in its hole........ |

Most helpful! So it's definite a distance determined holding pattern. Thank God that most aircraft these days have fairly reliable FMC's to look after ignorant people like myself. Thank you very much. ;) |
