Australia ATC

Hi guys,

I've heard thru (the grapevine) some colleagues that loads of ozzy atcos have left the country to work overseas,ie abu dhabi, karlsruhe and dublin...

Why is that?
Is atc situation downunder that bad?

Grtz

mikk_13 13th November 2012 12:54

To keep it simple- yes, it is that bad

nelsonmadiba 13th November 2012 16:19

well, good to know (or better: sorry to hear that)

thanks

fujii 13th November 2012 18:11

I see Mikk 13 is in Europe so may be a bit remote. "Loads" is not correct, some have in the past but I haven't heard of any recently. Like all big organisations, people move.

nelsonmadiba 18th November 2012 18:52

it depends on what you mean with "recently"...

I ve heard that within the last 24 months around 25 guys left.
that would be pretty recent to me.

samotnik 18th November 2012 19:14

OK, but what is the major problem in Australia? We all do suffer many difficulties nowadays, especially within Europe (those concepts of SES and other cost cutting bsht).

Camma 19th November 2012 14:47

25 in two years out of about 900. Does not sound like loads to me

nelsonmadiba 19th November 2012 17:01

I forgot to mention that the 25 that left all were coming from ACC.

I was just wondering what were the biggest issues within ASA.

Management wise?bad T&C? Roster? Money?

I'm just curious,that's all

Camma 20th November 2012 10:50

Why the interest? Have you applied for a position?

Hi guys! Is anybody here from YSSY tower, who can help me? I am an ATC from Russia (UUEE TWR) ,next month I'll fly to Sydney and stay there(here) for a short time. Looking for a way to visit Sydney TWR and compare the workstyle. In this connection I'd like to know the name and address(E-mail/fax) of the person, who is responsible for such things. Also,if it's necessary, I am ready to send an official letter from our ATC Authority. Thank you, appreciate any assistance.

nelsonmadiba 22nd November 2012 03:21

Nope,I haven't applied and I'm not even interested,I was just curious to know the reasons behind the mass-exodus (I'm kidding of course).

I'm simply curious to know what the situation is like indifferent countries, that s all

bekolblockage 23rd November 2012 00:11

like indifferent countries
Nice Freudian slip.
Long time since I left but "indifferent" nicely sums up AsA.

Gentle_flyer 24th November 2012 03:50

Indifferent.Hmmm According to controllers in Brisbane Centre, I think that's a bit strong!

Plazbot 25th November 2012 12:53

As one of the many who departed, I would add that most of the people who left from Brisbane centre were from the same aisle in the room. Tops/Outback/Ocean. All procedural sectors. All managed by the same handful of people. Take from that what you will.

LoserGill 25th November 2012 21:40

I started applying for the Experienced Controller position but the information that is asked is (to me) quite a lot; managers that I worked under have moved and/or retired, upper management has changed.
In effect, very few might know me there now to give a recommendation or even acknowledge my past work outside of actual controllers!

Baileys 26th November 2012 00:50

They are not interested in actual air traffic controllers or anything they might have to say. What would an ATC know about ATC or ATC recruitment or ATC training. This has been known for years in Australia. What are you thinking - it's all about air traffic MANAGEMENT.
