118.575

Can anyone comment on the much reduced signal strength of 118.575 to the north of EGCC? Has the transmitter location changed? Just curious....

Don't know what agency 118.575 is, but one of the LKS frequencies recently got changed and at the same time one of its transmitter sites moved from Preston to Kelsall. Maybe 118.575 got moved as well.

118.575 is Manchester Approach - goes out from transmitter in Styal near Manchester Airport. None of the TWR / APC frequencies use Preston or Kelsall, but MACC (TMA) frequencies do.

I have it on Good Authority that the aerial has been relocated, presumably for a good reason. Anyway, my main concern is if we will still be able to hear 118.575 at, say, 2,000' somewhere east of the Pennines. I'll check this next time we're out'n'about.

The other frequencies, incidentally, 121.85, 118.625, 121.7 and the ATIS are still all a good signal at home, but 118.575 isn't....
