Pan Calls
Anyone able to shed any light on the use of Pan urgency calls. They teach us in the sim for situations like engine failure after take off to make a pan call ie we're busy, have a problem which isn't a mayday and will get back to you when we can, however........it would appear in places where english is the 2nd language they have no idea what PAN means, is it ICAO terminology? what is the shortest way to achieve the above if we can't use PAN?

If PAN doesn't get what you want call MAYDAY. The less than universal use of PAN has been discussed before - you should find plenty of opinions and explanations by doing a search.

hehehehe, donīt get me wrong, but thatīs a rather funny and simple way of thinking.
English is not my first language and i do know what pan means, since down here in Spain they teach us about it as well. I donīt think it has nothing to do with your mother tongue but the formation you get. |
