Nah, just had a preference for bris or melbs for either stream. Did mention I need 1 Friday off in early December for a wedding so hopefully I haven't stitched myself up

rmak 27th June 2023 07:12

Funnily like Bruce I missed the call on Friday and was left a message saying they would call again Monday but still haven’t received anything 😬🥲

PubliusNaso 27th June 2023 08:52

I wouldn't stress too much about that rmak, from memory I had the same thing and it took them 2 or 3 days to get back around to me. Lots for them to organise.

And congrats to everyone else getting the positive news!

Congrats everyone! I'll see you guys at the academy come October.

Haven't got a call yet for me :(
Just wondering did ASA request anyone to get a Class3 medical after this?

When I got my verbal offer, they suggested I get on it ASAP due to possible delays.

When I got my verbal offer months ago, P&C mentioned it'd take a few days to get in touch with everyone. From memory, I think I got my offer a little earlier than others I kept in touch with.

Okay so apparently I got in, however there is no confirmed tower course start date yet so I’m told to sit tight for now. Anyone else pref tower?

Does anybody know the roster rotation for MEL enroute? I think I remember reading somewhere it might be 2 days, 2 night, 2 off repeating, but hoping someone can confirm.
Thanks :)

We're contracted for a 36 hour week (including breaks), but beyond that in the enroute environment the schedules vary wildly based on the group ("department"), stage of training, etc. I can only speak for my mate who's fully rated, but he does a big mix and match of morning and arvo shifts, with at max 2 overnights (doggos) per fortnight. Beyond that, he doesn't get all his days off in a row, and his schedule doesn't repeat weekly or anything like that.

Mix in some (somewhat compulsory) overtime, and you get your schedule. He likes his, and is at home a fair bit, so it works for him.

Hi there was wondering if anyone from the Brisbane assessment centre got a verbal offering yet?

PubliusNaso 13th July 2023 05:24

Rostering in general (from what I've heard, both from an ATC on the interview panel and an ATC friend-of-a-friend (so take with approximately 3 but no more than 5 grains of salt)) is largely organised by whatever group you're with - so for MEL enroute, basically the team that works that sector, within limits set by supervisors/FMS/etc and the need to cover the 24 hour period, but also with reference to when the busy periods are for that sector(s).

An example I was given is the 2/2/4(or is it 5? I think it was 4.) 2 mornings, 2 afternoons, 2 overnights, 4 days off which would look something like this:

Monday 06-14
Tuesday 06-14
Wednesday 14-22
Thursday 14-22
Friday 22-06
Saturday 22-06
Sunday not counted
Monday Off
Tuesday Off
Wednesday Off
Thursday Off
Friday 06-14 and repeat...

Of course, that's an idealised model roster. In addition to the (somewhat compulsory) overtime, people swap shifts to varying degrees depending upon the team and everything mentioned above.

That's my understanding at the moment. It could very well prove to be inaccurate!

shean Unfortunately I didn't get through. How did you end up going?

koola 24th July 2023 04:46
