I have done the online test, it had to be done sooner or later, so I did it sooner. Can anyone throw light on a matter: How long till I get to know the result of my online performance??

I got mine after about 5 working days if memory serves, but as the invite suggests, it can take upto 15:ugh: working days

Hey Abi. Yeah, I'm fromthe stage 1 Glasgow here. I've heard back, nearly off to book stage 2. Have you heard back yet?

Woop, just got the green light after stage 1 (was on the afternoon session in London on Aug 28th). Done the personality test. I wait with baited breath...:ooh:

I've got to do the personality test- have the student flu at the moment so hopefully will be feeling happier tomorrow to get it done! Good stuff getting through again, the jeans didn't matter after all :)

I dont think they can see your true personality, as all answers are ''yes'' and ''no'' format. For example if I decided that a statement ''I am usually not talkative'' is me. I am usually quiet. But if a have lots to say and I know there are people listening and they need to hear what I am saying I will talk a lot.

Or a statement about leadership, basically ''Will you chose to be a leader?'' No, I do not like to be a leader and I try not to, but if I am in a position to be a leader or in a group of people someone has to become a leader I will chose to be a leader, and if it helps the team for sure I will enjoy it.

So conclusion is: they can't be looking for your personality or attitude towards work, there must be something else and that is a question:confused:

Just wondering should I be looking to visit a Tower and ACC now or would it be better to visit after I get through stage 2?

I would wait until you have passed stage 2 as there is no requirement or benefit to visiting tower or ACC before stage 2, better to leave it just before stage 3 so its all fresh in your mind:ok:

Ah, well all should be well with the personality test when you do it! I didn't think anyone could fail it until I read this forum! COngrats to you for getting through too!! The jeans didnt matter, phew! We should consult about stage 2 for dates and stuff! haha.

Hi guys, I am new on here and have been reading through the comments above.

I was wondering when to organise a trip to visit an ATC (as I just passed the online test) :)
However someone has just mentioned to leave it until just before stage 3 however nowhere in this forum or in my communication with NATS could I find a stage 3? it just said that if I completed the online personality questionnaire then I would be invited to Stage 2, The computer tests and the interview.

Could someone help clear this up for me?

I've been thinking about a big career change for a while, and for the last few months have been obsessed with the idea of being an ATCO and have been doing lots of research , but have just read the NATS medical stuff and am now worried:sad:. I have had 'issues' with my ears in the past and can't hear as well out of one as the other. But I currently work as a musician and they're not too bad!
I was wondering how far down the line that would get checked?.... I don't want to go through maybe a few stages and then find there was a problem. Does this check happen early on, or should I go and have a test myself independently??

The hearing test happens during the medical which you will only get once you are successful in the final stage. So you may wish to get one done first to save yourself a dissappointment right at the end.

MrsD-S - I would definately agree with JonG, get yourself checked out before you apply - better to know sooner rather than later, even if it isnt what you want to hear. (sorry for the pun!) It would be awful to make it all the way through the selection process and then fail at medical.:{

Liamkirkham - You do not get asked anything about visits to ATC units at stage 2 - that is saved for the lovely couple of hours you spend with your interviewers at stage 3! It is more worthwhile to wait until after you have passed stage 2, firstly to make sure you pass your stage 2, and secondly so that everything is fresh in your mind. When you do visit a unit, I would definately recommend visiting at least 1 area centre and 1 aerodrome tower. It gives you a lot more to talk about and also a lot wider veiw on what you might like to do.

Stage 3
 

I've been accepted to stage 3 but don't have time to get a visit in before the ideal slot for me due to work commitments. Do you think that would be a bad idea to go in to the interviews without a visit or should I wait until a later date after I can fit a date in?

Finlay - there are people on our current area course who did not, for differing reasons, attend anywere prior to their stage 3. They got through fine, but it comes down to the person.

If asked "Have you visited anywhere", and you answer "couldnt be bothered" - stage 3 may not go well! If you have a reason why you didn't / couldn't, just be honest.

That said, having seen all the disciplines before I started, it made the choice whether to do area or aerodrome easier, so if you can, it really is worth it.
