About the cubes in stage 2;

Are we still talking about unfolded cubes with multiple choice?
Do they have the same shape as they had in stage 1?

The cubes are similar to those in stage 1.

^^ Its probably also worth noting that you only have two choices, actually three choices for the cubes at stage two, the third one being 'neither' so its actually wuite a bit easier this time around.

the question for £40000: who remembers how many faults (=damn ringtone) did he/she do at the strip management display?

Just did my stage 2 this morning and i think i got about 4 mistakes in the strip test-not too bad.

The best way to go about the tests though is to just relax and enjoy yourself because not much else can be done really.

Zooker is right - it's a good basic book to start off with. The 10th edition is due out in August 2009 but you can still pick up the 9th edition on Amazon, etc.

I agree ATC book is good, not too detailed and in depth as even i understand it !!!

Went round Swanwick the other week and managed to spend a few hours on a shift, excellent experience.

does anyone know the rejection ratio at each stage- SWMBO asked earlier and i had to admit that i had no idea

i would guess that stage 1 loses the most applicants- 50-1 maybe?

how about 2 and 3 though- any ideas?

get a rough feeling that you have a 2 in 3 chance of passing college- but what about validation- guess if you've passed college you must have a pretty good chance of validating?

I know from last year, 20,000 applicants, 90% get rejected at stage 1

Not sure about the other stages but a member of HR that was on the same table as me for lunch at stage 3 said that only about 1% get to the college.

20,000 sounds like a lot.

From a similar lunchtime conversation, I vaguely remember that NATS did a fair bit of advertising last year and had Swanwick on BBC Breakfast, etc - it seemed that prompted a lot of applications. No idea what the average application rate is though...

I got told as a guide that out of 100 applicants, 75 will fail stage 1, out of the 25 that go on to stage 2, 15 will fail that and of the 10 that go on to stage 3, 3-4 will be selected for the college. Even after that they still reject a few due to medical or security clearance issues.

In an email from NATS is says that 10% pass stage 1.

In reply to the posts about percentages, I was told a very interesting one on my stage 3:

0.5% of people who take 1st stage end up becoming a validated ATCO.

hey everyone, i FINALLY found out today that i passed my stage 2 computer tests! soo happy. was getting really frustrated and really worried aswell because i had my S2 on 19th May and i heard others on here who were with me on that day had found out like 2 days after.

I rang loads of times and they said they would ring me back and i heard nothing each time....rang this morning (16th working day) and got the call back and was told i passed!! was so happy!

booked my stage 3 for 23rd July, anybody else doing it then? i have to fly over from ireland the night before so i am hoping NATS will be kind with my expenses.

also gonna arrange a swanwick control centre visit and belfast international airport tower visit, thinking it will look good at interview!
also from reading this forum i see that book on air traffic control seems very useful for stage 3!
