How Much Longer?

Just wondering how much longer is the 250Kts speed limit ex LHR to be in force?
also is it working?
Thanks

1: TFN, and its not just from LHR.
2: Depends who's controlling in the TMA......
3: Who's next?

I thought the "I don't like this particular instruction so I'm going to ignore it" brigade, now there's a good idea  , had had their wrists smacked and been told to behave?

still adhering to this trial about 98 percent of the time, but must admit that when im busy ive cancelled the speed on a few just so they pull ahead and get the split quicker... no one seems that bothered and i know others do it now on a regular basis.

Isn't that ok? lifting speed limit for separation purposes?

I thought the speed trial was to make it easier for TC to provide a better trail of traffic departing the TMA, slower moving therefore easier (more time) to put one behind another. I'd say then if there are two neck and neck then lifting one speed early is sensible to get it in front, and I'd certainly be pleased to receive traffic that way.

Does this not get messed up by the fact that the average 744 can't fly clean at 250kt after take off?

Allowances are made, but at least it starts with all a/c flying a good slow clean speed

Do you see conflicts further down the road due to the heavy's slower rate of climb/longer @250KTS compared with the likes of 73/320's?
Do the med jets overtake the heavy's due to reaching FL100 therefore accellerating sooner?
I just wondered as last week ex LHR departed about 5 min after a 744 and was surprised when he came up on one of the midlevel freq's after me,( knowing that the freq's are based on levels and the heavy's take longer to reach due weight)
in the past they still used to be there before me.

It's a good idea. In theory. Unfortunately the London TMA consists of more than one departure runway with more than one SID route and more than one aircraft type using it.. It really p**ses me off being told how to separate departing aircraft. I will use speed control/restrictions when I deem it necessary and for good reason. Why the **** did NATS spend all that time and money training me...:ugh:
