MAN: Modified DESIG1R?
Evening PPRUNE,
tonight at about 21:00 i witnessed a Pakistan 747-300 depart on a DESIG1R, it exercised the usual path (turn right at D3 MCT(345), turn right at XUMAT (083) to DESIG).... the next departure was a Air Berlin 737-800 which seemed to take the same routing, but this time it continued way past XUMAT(345), thus leaving the turn to DESIG much later than usual... so why was this?, i can only think of wake turbulence from the PIA 743? hope MAN control can help cheers scott w |
No idea why in this case. Unlikely to be due to vortex wake though, as there would have been at least 2 minutes between them at departure and the 747 would have had a pretty decent groundspeed (although very little climb rate probably!). Probably the sector had the 737 on radar headings then to separate against other traffic either inbound or setting up for a more northerly eastbound track? Like I said, just a guess.

thanks for your reply, like you say it was probably to do with wake seperation
