What do the numbers mean after Q1001? Ive seen this a few times now, i presume it is something to do with Rwy 24? Thanks :ok: |
Long time since I've dabbled in METARS and TAFS but
QNH Edited as I am a dullard - I thought you meant the QNH!!!! |
braking action

24290095 This is the motne code for rwy 24. Motne stands for Meteorogical Operational Telecommunication Network Europe, and is a way of passing the runway state in code so that pilots will know what contamination is on the runway. Used in snow and ice conditions.
http://home.arcor.de/berlin-rundflug/motne.htm will decode it for you. TS |
A few of those done at Ice Station the last few days.Over 5 inches of the stuff and still snowing.We can cope:ok:
|
Numbers are for SNOWTAM. Details are req by pilots in event of contamination by snow/ice/slush etc.
|
24 = Runway 24
2 = wet or water patches 9 = 51 to 100% contaminated 00 = depth less than 1mm 95= braking action good :ok: |
Thanks alot people. Have a nice day! :D
|
Interestingly though.. using the decode link... this suggests that only 24L was affected in this way. Is this correct? As 24R alone would be 74 and all would 88?
