Sorry to be a bother but wondering if anyone could tell me the runway length at Bristol.Is it still Lulsgate,or has that long gone.
Also,is there still a hump on the runway?
Is Servisair still the main handling agent?

Why am I Bristol bashing?
I live in Clifton,and have the highest regard for the airport
and want to support it in my book.
There must be something I am not aware of,otherwise you would not have replied in the way you did.
I only asked a question.
I helped setting up the only Bristol based airline,and with the stockmarket crash,we followed.

I didn't think it was the stockmarket crash that did for Paramount. More to do with the MD or some similar level chappie who ran off with lots of money I seem to remember reading in the Daily Mail.

Seems I have hit a raw nerve somewhere,so have changed from
Bristol to Cardiff.An empty 757 arrives in the early evening,and then departs to Malaga the next morning on an ACMI basis for a charter airline suffering with a few tech problems.Aircraft arrives
and departs with no problem.
Only reason I asked who the handling agent is,if I was using their
real name,would have to get their permission to do so,and they have the right to see the necessary paragraphs prior to publication.This also applies to the airport director if using a real airport.
Just hope Cardiff are a little more friendly!!

prb46 - you obviously misinterpreted the tongue in cheek nature of my comment. I was not suggesting that you or anyone was slagging off Bristol, merely that all the threads recently regarding Bristol has degenerated into them getting a load of stick.

You can't blame the folk at Bristol for being a bit touchy, they've had to put up with a fair old bit of stick on these hallowed pages recently. They are a lovely bunch for sure and a pleasure to work with if a touch wordy!:rolleyes:
Today at BRS. CAVOK and +5 celsius. BRS still in LVP's with "freezing rain warning current", "frost warning current" and "snow warning current". (titter!).

Could anyone help me on two points

A 757 half loaded departs to Spain.Using the westerly runway,would the f/o see Clevedon or Weston-Super-Mare
prior to turning south,or would the aircraft be banking prior
to this.

On landing from the south east,on a normal tracking,I would
assume the aircraft would overfly Bath.What sort of height would this be,and would you be looking after him at this point?

Now it get's complicated.(to me anyway!!)
An aircraft being handled by London,presumably would be handed over to someone in the middle,prior to going to
Bristol.Is it Bournemouth or Southampton?Or someone else?

On landing at Bristol,the aircraft is put on a remote stand.
The departure time is 0930 the next morning.

The majority of the Lo-Co airlines have gone.Given this,would you let the 757 be towed onto stand,or would you have to depart from the remote stand

Departing 27....may overfly Weston, with Clevedon on the right, if told to climb straight ahead, if on a noise abatement then would probably turn first, Im sure I'll get corrected if Im wrong!

Southeast....there isnt such thing really, everything tends to route CPT DCT ABDAL DCT BRI on a direct track from the east, FL220 by CPT then descending FL110, usually over Bath at about FL50, worked by London Control Sector 23 (134.75) then handed to Bristol Radar (136.07). Cardiff arrivals from the east are also handled by Bristol Radar, but are initially FL260 at CPT.

Bournemouth or Solent would not work this traffic at all as far as I know!

Traffic inbound to Bristol from the North, South and West is handed to Cardiff who operate a delegated function on behalf of London before transfer to Bristol.
Outbound to the North South and West the same is true.
Traffic inbound to Cardiff from the East is worked by Bristol in the first instance if it is prepared to leave CAS .
Bristol also operates a delgated function on behalf of London to the North of them upto FL95.

I was out by 500ft,so easy to change.
The answer you have given about parking is a valid one.
My book comes out next year,and I am worried that by that
time certain carriers will be taking on all the best stands,and
a 757 will be kicked out to somewhere very remote.
Reason why it's important?
The crew are well into discretion,and need a very quick
turnround.Empty in,full out.
Last time I departed Bristol was to Bulgaria,on a major charter
airline.It was parked on stand,but it was january.

Actually, from the east, we'd prefer to get smartie tubes down to 3A ft over Bath (Colerne dependant obviously). At the other end, 2.5 to 3A for the closing heading over Weston.

We rarely have anything, the exception being at night, routing in from the SE, not many pilots want to mix it with Boscombe and Yeovilton when they're pretending to save the world. Why Plymouth/London Mil don't understand this, a la last night, is beyond me.

3000ft over Bath? Lucky if we're not still stuck at 7,000 by then with speedbrake and gear at the ready... BRS seriously needs some Class A out to the East and Colerne to stay below 2000ft.

Well, it would make my life easier. And lets have lower than Fl220 at CPT whilst we're at it! AND lets put the A38 in a tunnel AND extend the staff car park AND stop the roof from leaking in the old terminal by the coffee machine.

I note my previous request for smartened up toilets has been granted so I look forward to achieving the above with haste. :)

"BRS seriously needs some class A out to the east" - class A what exactly, drugs? New airspace is on it's way, we're flying it in in the not too distant future, but you'll have to make do with class D, you poor lamb, and if D isn't good enough, then you'll just have to keep on moaning.
As for the height over Bath, as I said, Colerne permitting, we want you at or close to 3000'. Maybe I should also have said "Sector 23 and Colerne permitting". S'not our fault if 23 keep you too high, moan at them not us.

prb46 - it doesn't matter which country you come from, if you're routing up as far west as through SAM or anywhere east of that, it's normal for you to be sent along L9 to CPT-ABD-BRI. That's what I meant by from the east. There is no airways routing from the south east to BRS which will keep you inside CAS. You could request to route SAM-ADSON-BRI, but you would have to mix it with the military during the day and into early evening. If that's your wish, good luck to you, but you'll have to request it from London.
Regardless of the wind, you will be given the 'into wind' runway unless we can fit you in on the opposite end, but when the winds are light enough for you, it doesn't hurt to ask for the non duty runway. We do try to accomodate it when we can, just ask MO'L Airlines.;)
As for my 'smartie tube' crack, that's just me, it covers all of the pilot fraternity in their little, well, smartie tubes, regardless of type.:p

As an ATPL holder I reserve the right to moan at and about anything related to air traffic, aircraft designers, airline management and air transport users.

Though to be fair BRS ATC is highly competent, highly regarded and highly amusing nearly all the time. Which is nice.
