Whither CONGA?
So, two reporting point changes in the next AIP. Both already detailed on my web site.
Can anyone in the know explain why CONGA has become LISTO? Two questions really:
For anyone that does not already know, my site is trying to build up a historical reference of reporting points. Much detail gets lost as people retire etc, and there are some interesting stories to be recorded. All input welcome! Nick Locke |
CONGA has been changed to LISTO to allieviate the problems we've been having with aircraft flying the old CONGA SID's instead of the "new ones" and also, more seriously, getting them mixed up with the HONILEY SID.
Therefore the best way to sort out the problem once and for all was to change CONGA to LISTO (sounds nothing like HONILEY right?????) and hence the SID's change also. That's what I've been told / overheard anyhow ;) As to where the name comes from....pass. Paerhaps that randomising machine is coming up trumps again. Just out of interest, in some proposals I have seen recently for airspace reorganisation, the following RP's are along a new airway - in order of departure from UK airspace over the N.Sea : ????? (But a females name anyhow) SUCKS BIGGA BOLOX Nice ;) Also I love CHIPY which is just north or Liverpool. (Edited for dreadful spelling and addition of the CHIPY bit!) Conga has [or is becoming] Listo because of the confusion  between Conga and Honily SIDs, especially off Rw24L. Apparently, some pilots were flying a "CON" rather than a "HON" SID. [It has been given/read back as a "CONNELY 1 Y!" :D Hope that this helps
