a curious pilot

i am newly qualified JAA ATPL holder, spent most on my flying days in the uk and have to give it to the guys and gals what an absolutely amazing job you all do. Can you tell me a little about your training, time it takes, skills you learn the groundschool side. I want at least a small appreciation of what you chaps must undertake to obtain your licence or whatever the qualification is. Gotta say to the london controllers around daventry, compton sorta way, do u have nightmares? all those bits of tin? good god!

Have a look at:

http://www.nats.co.uk/recruitment/index.html

for an overview of training.

I'm sure the TC gals and guys will let you know what it's like to work the sectors!!

And when you've read the NATS propoganda, feel free to email me with any other questions, or if you want to visit a non NATS atc unit,(aerodrome, approach, approach radar). :)
