New Technology : What do we want ?

With ATC 99 about to start in Maastricht and the hard sell taking place on lots of new technologies and gadgets, I wonder what we as users would like to see in the way of technology over the next few years.

Perhaps you'd like datalink to save you having to communicate and pass football scores to those damned pilots (only kidding guys !!).

Maybe you'd like a display which could correlate aircraft positions using radar, radio reports, ADS, etc, etc, to give a combined situation display.

Perhaps you'd like a nice interactive display which gives medium term conflict alert and lists of solutions to potential conflictions.

Perhaps none of these, and maybe, if you're at a major UK airport you'd just like something old fashioned like SSR ?

What would be on your shopping list ?

1. Radio that work, get no interference from taxis, microwave ovens etc and has no gaps in coverage.
2. Comfortable light weight headsets that have amplitude limiters so we don't go deaf at 50.
3. Better chairs so we dont get back/neck/leg ache after an hour hunched over a radar console.

Bit of old tech really!

Yeah, I'd like those low tech suggestions too for starters!!

For the future though, anything which would help to give as conflict free a profile as possible using 4D flight management tools. We all need a dream (smile).

PS anyone know the UBB code for a smiley ?
