So what do we do now?
 

As PPP has been given the greens by the govt. what are we going to do now? All the campaigning by IMPS to stop PPP is now no longer of any use. What is the current union stand at the moment?

Has there been an offical word from IMPS giving their reaction?

Is there any politcal way that PPP can be stopped or is that it now, it goes through?

What is your reaction, and what will your stand be?

I am against the whole thing. I heard some comments made by some people the other day which could have a great effect on numbers at LL. Ask me about it as i dont want to put it on here.

as an aside, have you all heard that the management have reneged on the contract over OJTI payments. They now say that they never agreed to it being optional for those on the top of the scale and that it is still part of our contractual obligation to train, even though they have signed the agreement to this effect.
The union apparantly are going to the lawyers to enforce the agreement but at the moment all ojti payments are on hold.

or are they deliberatly trying to get us to go on strike, so that they can say its our fault when nerc doesn't work.

And there is the "Safety" issue. John "J'adore" Prescott et al have banged on about safety being the first, secon and third priority. The regulator will be separated from NATS (I thought it was already) in order to regulate more effectively etc etc. Well then, how come that I hear a rumour, from a pretty good source, that there is a move afoot to de-regulate the colleges? As I understand it the colleges will be free to do their own thing and the first involvement of SRG will be at first unit validation point. A bit late in the day to point out shortcomings in the training!

Of course no professional trainer would bow to commercial pressures to get students through courses now would they? Indeed, do the professional trainers even need to be ATCOs? Any half decent college lecturer could do the job with a bit of specialised reading, after all a lecture is defined as the process of transferring the contents of the lecturer's notebook to the student's notebook without passing through the brains of either.

When I retire I shall travel exclusively by road, even if it is anti-social.
