Age limits

I am thinking of applying to become an ATCO. The NATS website does state that you must be under 30. Just how strict are they at enforcing this age limit? I have just turned 31 and have no previous air traffic or flying experience - at least not forward of the flight deck door!

Cheers!

Just a point... at your age, with absolutely no previous experience, you would find it pretty gruelling. However, best of luck.

No harm in trying is there. You may as well fill in the form and see what happens. Then let us all know how you get on. If you would be successful, you probably won't start for 2 years or so anyway, but we're all in the same boat there! I think there will probably be a few over 30's at the college these days!:=

Marczac if you don't meet the selction criteria, be prepared for a knock back....

"I think there will probably be a few over 30's at the college these days!"

I'll be 32 in March when I start on course 203. Applied in October 2002 age 29 3/4. AFAIK there is at least one 31 year old on course 202.

Guess I'm going to be the course grandad then :{ :}

I'm not in my 30's just yet, but married with 3 kids in school makes me feel pretty old sometimes!:D See you in March foggy!

foghorn 20th November 2004 09:43

See you in march! I think I'll start a "Course 203 come out of the woodwork" thread in the next couple of months to see just how many of us there are on pprune.

No offence but please try not to, as it's getting very tiresome reading these type of posts!:\

Obviously everyone wants to know about their new course which is fine, but if you do start one please try to keep it to operationally essential info (not how many beers you are going to drink on your first night in Bournemouth :O )

Cheers AFH
