HDG off LAM for EGLL
I'm rather hoping HEATHROW DIRECTOR will be the font of knowledge on this one... I'm looking for a 'usual' heading off LAM from LLINT to LLFIN... I realise it's all traffic-dependant, but if I said 120 would I be far off the mark? Thanks in advance.

120 off LAM? I thin k you're mixing LAM and BNN? Usual heading off LAM is 270, with adjustment for wind. If things are quiet 240 maybe used for a straight in on westerlies. After leaving LAM the next heading for 27L/R could be from 180 to 120 depending on everything.. Someone will tell me it has all been changed!

The usual heading off LAM is west-ish; 265-275 normally depending on the wind. Sometimes you get a dog leg, south-west for a few miles followed by north-west for a few miles to make a bigger gap ahead on easterlies but that’s fairly unusual. The 120 heading comes a bit later, somewhere over north-west London. |
OK SATCO, now ask the usual heading off BIG for 27R.;)

Sorry HD, that's what I meant... wasn't terribly clear initially perhaps; it was the 'off LAM from INT to FIN' I was after... I've got 270-ish OFF LAM, it was the turning HDG, 180 to 120 depending on everything, roger. I've been watching some tracking and 150 seems prevalent but if you ask me it's just too darned tight!
|
Thing is, SATCO, the headings are determined by the radar controllers. After leaving LAM, the next heading might be downwind or base leg. There's a lot going on over NE London, noit to mention mixing them in with those coming off BNN!
|
I get all that... I'm trying to determine that notwithstanding everything else going on, 150 is too tight, 120 gives a bit more room. I've been watching some radar replays and that seems about the norm... rarely do I see 150-ish...
|
What exactly are you trying to do and do you have any experience working in the LTMA? Once traffic has left LAM heading 270ish, the next heading could be anything from 220 to 120. I wouldn't call 150 too tight...

So Heathrow controllers need to know approximately 5 headings, maybe 7, AMAN tells them the order, and TBS provides a target to ensure correct spacing. No phone calls with EXCDS either. makes me wonder how Heathrow is MUC, time to stroll the 8 paces to SLAG corner boys and girls |

Nimmer what is "AMAN"? I don't understand your banter old chap!

So AMAN is the modern equivalent of "You're 2 off OCK to follow my xxx of BOV" shouted across the room?
|
Yes, exactly like that. That’s literally all it does......... |
I wonder how much it cost?
