ADS-B "ground stations" were ten a penny in the UK. I have one sitting next to me - about as big as two packets of cigarettes and it plugs into my PC. It's a very, very simple box of tricks but remember that it is line of sight only.

You can make one for around 50 quid using a Raspberry Pi.

So what is the lowest cost commercial unit available ?

Surely there must be a salesman who wants to earn a sale?

Just pointing out that the RTL-SDR conversation started happening around post #5 and generated about 10 posts... then all those posts were moderated out... then happened again a few days later with a completely new batch of contributors and another 10 posts... note their absence... Is this phase 3? Not intended as a criticism of the moderation, just slightly amused.

AND YES I TOO HAVE A RTL-SDR...

Commercial and conventionally reliable? Or commercial and certified for ATC use?

The latter, try Thales and the figure of $100k has already been mentioned.

The former, try here: https://planevision.systems/

Perhaps deleted because they were completely irrelevant to the thread topic ?

Well Dick has used the word 'certified' only in the original post and not in the subject/topic. People were trying to be helpful.

I reckon I may donate one for Launceston in the interests of airline safety and to help prevent a CFIT into Mt Barrow.

Save your money Dick, they have 3 already, and an approach service outside tower hours. Do you look at any facts before you launch one of your monomanic diatribes?

Showing there has been an aproach service at Launceston for years, and a plan for more

Where we talked about LT ADSB/WAAM years and years ago
