NATS enters the enthusiast plane-tracking market
Plane-tracking app explores airspace in 3D
But only if you have an iPad - if you're an Android user, you're out of luck for the time being. |
I had a quick look, it's interesting enough, although I prefer the radar screen at work

Does FlightRadar24 do 3D? It didn't last time I looked. |
FR24 does NOT show all traffic.

(a) It's not broadcasting position and it's in an area where FR24 can't do effective multilateration because of lack of coverage (b) It's considered to be sensitive traffic and is voluntarily suppressed by FR24 even though its location is known. In the linked video, NATS' Matthew Mills explains that the latter will also apply to Airspace Explorer. More on the system here: Six things you must try in NATS' new flight tracking app |
Plus it's not broadcasting its position because it only has a mode A or mode A/C transponder or even no transponder at all.
How are you supposed to download this app any way, there are no instructions. |
