Hello.

Cant find anything definitive.

Do you still need to report at CRP if you are under radar control/contact. I operate into the London TMA alot if that helps the question,

Love the name. As captain of a Starship you should know all this....BUT, as far as I can ascertain, you MUST make a position report in U.K. Airspace.....

(a) After transfer of communication.
(b) On reaching the limit of ATC clearance.
(c) When instructed by ATC.

U.K. IAIP ENR 1.1-12 has other conditions too.

Keep a sharp lookout.....

Yes you do. The London TMA ones are nothing to do with surveillance. They are purely due to the cats cradle route structure and lack of available levels. Your report at the CRP is an aid to the controller that if your level remains the same after your report it is likely to affect traffic on a conflicting route at the same level.

....or, in some cases, it's a reminder for the ATCO to climb you before you leave controlled airspace.

Either way if it's compulsory I'd report it!

(There are, of course, some CRPs for helicopter routes too)
