Airway designators
Stalled over this one today:
Airways are named in accordance to ICAO Annex 11. The basic designator consists of one letter followed by a number from 1 to 999. Some letters are used to distinguish between area naviagation routes and non area nav routes and to distinguish between regional network routes that form part of the regional networks of ATS routes and ones that do not form part of the regional network. To differentiate RNAV and non-RNAV routes makes sense to me, but why should a pilot bother if a route is part of a regional network of ATS routes? 7 7 7 7 |
Bring back Green 1, Amber 1, Red 1, Blue 1. Now that was a system that made sense!
