Visiting ATC

Hi,

Apologies if this is a rather naive question, but is it possible for a general member of the public to sit in on ATC in the UK (obviously with prior consent).

I recently completed my PPL in the States and want to get to grips with the intricacies and differences in RT back here. Sure, I'll pick it up as I do more flying here but thought maybe I could accelerate the process.

I actually asked if I could visit the tower in the States (KSEE) to sit in with the controllers but was told this was no longer permitted legally for security reasons. Is the case the same here?

My local tower would be EGNT/NCL if anyone from there is on these boards!

Thanks in advance

As a member if the public, without knowing a member of staff there not really.

As a ppl, then yes it is possible.

We have local ppl pilots visit the tower no and then and it is actually encouraged at some units.
