Any ATCO Jobs coming up?
Does anyone know of any ATCO jobs coming up in the near future?
Ideally looking for a radar unit. Thanks DCS |
finger on the pulse eh? ;)
Inverness and Bournemouth currently advertising. Air Traffic Control jobs Manchester Airport Jobs |
The Peel Group or DFS are likely to need to replace a number of tower only rated ATCOs at EGGW soon. Please explain or point me in the direction of some further info. Cheers |
Inverness pay well!

Not if you look at the Bournemouth job, LXGB! :{

Anyone know if Newcastle or Liverpool may be recruiting in the near future? Both filled. |
With Manston and Prestwick up for sale, there may be some more experienced ATCOs on the market soon.
|
For Inverness you need ADI,APS and APP ratings. The unit operates mornings (up to 8.30am)and evenings procedural. Also a Met ticket for nights.

NATS Luton tower contract is up for renewal. Deadline for submission of business plan passed a while ago, the Spanish concession operator will make the decision.
|
Hm if NATS don't get the contract, how will the new incumbents be trained?

Hm if NATS don't get the contract, how will the new incumbents be trained? Given the manner in which NATS have been treating new recruits over the last few years, I doubt they'd have the intelligence or the resources to persuade every existing ATCO at Luton to stay with NATS. What would ensure NATS survival at Luton is the provision of Approach Radar Services. Is the airfield contract separate from the remote provision of radar from Swanwick? If not then NATS have the upper hand as the new provider would have to directly employ radar rated atcos, engineers and probably pay for the oversight and commissioning of radar facilities at the airport. That would require an extremely lengthy contract to get a financially worthwhile return. |

Southend still recruiting. ADI, APP and APS required. :ok: |
HIAL - Mobile ATCO required.
Mobile Air Traffic Controller with Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd | 1401338032
Either you need a mobile, or wheels, or both. Ideal job for a nomad re writing the Complete Works of Shakespeare or similar. Crap salary for what they're asking, but I dare say that the take up would be so low you could demand your own price. |
Crap salary for what they're asking, but I dare say that the take up would be so low you could demand your own price. When I think about it, I have great respect for anyone who has found a job that suits them perfectly. I have a friend who works with HIAL and seems very happy. He had worked in quite a few different parts of the world before ending up in his homeland again - as I say, it seems to suit him well. When it comes to salary there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, that the salary offered by HIAL still puts the successful applicant into the top 10% of earners in the UK - perhaps we can get too used to the salaries we get in this business. Second, what really matters to me is what lifestyle one can enjoy on the salary. My guess is that one can have a pretty good life in the Scottish islands on the salary offered by HIAL, combine that with, say, a love of outdoor activities and the successful applicant could have found the ideal job. |
Good post :ok:
|
Actually diesel would be nearer 153.9p a litre in the isles.
Don't forget the allowances(shift,weekend/PH,Met,Mobile) would add a bit on the basic pay.Final salary pension as well at the moment, but for how much longer?Don't know if HIAL are very good at paying relocations to new staff.:( You could get quite a good house, for the price of a flat down south, but castles will be a bit much.Looks like they have had a good response to the RATCO post at PE,so maybe there's a lot more people looking around than first thought. |
I think the salary is fair. The job can be interesting at times, getting your APC ticket to deal with 3 to 4 IFR movements at the same time then doing sod all for an hour.
As I have said before the ATC part of the job should cause no problems ( although I think lack of experience is beginning to creep into some HIAL airfields, nothing dangerous just not as tight as it could be). The main aspect any applicant should consider is that you are living on an island (EGPC could also be thought of as an island it is just not surrounded by water :E ), and that can take some time getting use to. I enjoyed my 3 years detatchment to HIAL however I was single and on NATS pay rates :ok: and TBH 3 years was enough! Rgds AyrTC |
I think the salary is fair The facts are that you'll be based somewhere which is probably as expensive, not to buy a property, but certainly as most of the South of England to live and then be expected to up roots and hold a dual validation to travel at few days notice to exercise the privilages of that (talking of which, I understood that SRG would only approve such dual validations for the purposes of leave relief - up to 6 months doesnt cover that remit). Recently HIAL were offering salaries in excess of £60k for anyone with all 3 ratings. This job even with just 2 has got to attract a starting salary of at least £50k (plus the allowances) and no one should accept anything less for the disruption and inconvenience the job would involve. It seems that the new HIAL Manager ATS is putting his toe in the water to see if any of the dumb fish bite, lets hope there are plenty of crocs, gaitors and pirhanas around to stop him taking the piss. |
Hm if NATS don't get the contract, how will the new incumbents be trained? In the same way that has been done when NATS (or any other provider) have lost a contract anywhere else |
The situation at Boscombe Down comes to mind actually; none of the staff of the new contractor reached the required standard on NATS last day despite the efforts of NATS to train them (and at least one of NATS staff signing on with the new contrcator).

@ chevvron
A real moral dilemma that - asking anyone to train someone you know will displace you is not a recipe for success :( |

ATC jobs have dried up like the economy :(.
This is such a specialized field that all your years of experience won't get you to a bank teller position for a fifth of the salary. |
North Denes
Yes - we're still here! We desperately need a TWR/APP ATCO for full-time, ideally with Met Obs too.
Get in touch with the unit, PM me or see Safeskys website. Britkit |

''Bournemouth have just been told to accept a pay cut or reduced staffing.''
No they haven't. |
I hear that EGNX have been advertising (closing date has passed), but did not see this on Flight Global Jobs. Is there another website or agency that would usually advertise these jobs or is it simply the case of checking each airport's website?
Since this is a Rumour network, are there any rumoured jobs coming up in the near future? I am currently overseas with ADC and APR ratings and very interested in getting back to Blighty at the earliest opportunity! :ok: |
