Safeskys...ANSP?

Just been trawling the net looking for possible employers and I stumbled upon the Safeskys website. It states that they are undergoing accreditation to become an ANSP at an airfield within 30 miles of London...anyone know which one? I know that historically Safeskys has been a company to avoid but I wondered if that was still the case? Would appreciate any opinions...
Cheers

Possibly Dunsfold?

rodan 26th Apr 2011 19:50

Shouldn't it be 'Safeskies'?

Amexgull 26th Apr 2011 21:16

Only if you wanted to change the name of a ltd company...

agent007 26th Apr 2011 22:03

safeskys

Has anyone on PPRUNE worked for this company?

chevvron 27th Apr 2011 02:57

I couldn't possibly comment.
Amexgull; why do you take part in the traditional 'Gisajob' bashing? If you ever met him you'd realise he has his faults like all of us but basically he's not all bad.

radarman 27th Apr 2011 10:32

chev,

I seem to remember a few years ago, before Gisajob was given a thumping by the mods, there was a thread going with a number of posts by people working for Safeskys as BCU operators. I don't think any of them would agree with your post.

Rodan: you are correct in your grammatical crticism of the spelling of the company name, but maybe spelling and grammar are not the forte of the Wycombe Wanderer. (Oops! Does that count as Gisajob-bashing?) :E :E

'Gisajo' Bashing?

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean - I can only assume gisajob was a person on here who worked for Safeskys...My post was not based on anything to do with PPRuNe merely with the reputation the company has/had and that was based on all the reports I have heard in the last 20 years I have been involved with ATC...
I am just after what the current opinion of the company is or if anyone on here knows about their imminent ANSP accreditation as their website is a little vague to say the least...

radarman 27th Apr 2011 20:53

Amexgull,

You've been involved in ATC for 20 years and don't know anything about Safeskys or its illustrious leader???

Your comments about their website being vague are correct. And an understatement! It should carry a severe BS warning in big red letters.

Now I never said I didn't know anything about Safeskys, everything I had heard was quite some time ago and was wondering if their reputation was still the same...As for their leader, no I don't know who he is but as I am super intelligent then I reckon he went under the forum name 'Gisajob'...

And from the rest of your post it would suggest that not much has changed...;)

handleturning 29th Apr 2011 14:10

It is Dunsfold.

chevvron 29th Apr 2011 14:53

You seem rather positive about that; do you have proof?

Danscowpie 29th Apr 2011 20:05

You seem rather positive about that; do you have proof
 You don't have to be a genious to work it out, it's been the worst kept secret for the last 12 months.

That said. how the owners of Dunsfold can justify the considerable expense of running a fully staffed ATC unit at an airfiled which is going to attract any more traffic than it already does, is a bit of a mystery.

Even Dickie (its Richard you know! I'm not a tie!) admits that it's not all cut and dried yet.

Safeskys Ltd

Two things.

Dunsfold it is, and there is only one sky (as in Single European Sky)

SGC

rodan 2nd May 2011 21:35

there is only one sky
That's as may be, and the company should therefore be 'Safesky'. But if there were more than one sky, it would be 'skies'.

Hence we have 'open skies' agreements, and United invite you to 'Fly the Friendly Skies'. :ok:

Danscowpie 3rd May 2011 18:17

Consider that any one aeroplane can only fly in one sky at any one time and you'll find the answer.....

chevvron 6th May 2011 10:08

If that's all the 'barbe(er)ed' comments you can think of, I shan't bother playing with you lot any more!

chevvron 11th May 2011 23:24

Looks like I've killed this thread. If anyone wants to know more, PM me, as I do know more but can't reveal it openly.

Danscowpie 12th May 2011 20:28

Possibly because there's nothing more to say.
"IF" Safeskys are succesful in obtaining the necessary approvals, it will be their first ATC contract for many many years. Their only success in the last couple of decades has been scaring birds away and trying to sell wheel covers.

As I've said, I can't see how Dunsfold can justify the cost of full time ATC, the current traffic levels certainly don't justify it nor are there any instrument approach procedures to warrant an ATC existance.

Frankly Chevron, I doubt that you have anything to say over and above that, if you have, do it here - put up and shut up.

radarman 12th May 2011 20:55

What! Did somebody actually buy a Safeskys wheel cover ?
